Location:
Guelph Soccer (Dome)

Guelph
Ontario

Basic technical rules for all classes.
Radio control model airplanes only (no helicopters).
Maximum aircraft flying weight: 300g
Electric power only.
FAI requires all aircraft takeoff and land from the runway / ground surface. This requirement anticipates the surface is a smooth gym floor, not turf found at Guelph soccer dome. Therefore, this practical enforcement will be all aircraft must be capable of taking off and landing (ie; have landing gear). Additionally, in the Intermediate and Sportsman classes, the takeoff and landing requirements (ie; landing gear) will be waived in the interest to prevent any aircraft damage. (A hand launch will be acceptable)

Basic competition rules for all sequence classes.
Minimum 3 official rounds.
Points normalized for each flight.
Best 3 of 4 normalized scores per participant will be used for final standing.
Judging by experienced participants in aerobatic competitions.
Awards to first 3 in each class.

Basic competition rules for F3p-AM (aero musical/ freestyle)
The duration of the music shall be 120 +/- 5 seconds, Judging of the flight starts with its beginning.
The freestyle will be composed entirely by the competitor, meaning the whole flight will be to his discretion. (no mandatory maneuvers)
All pilots will fly two rounds. Best out of two will be scored.

Music:
The music will be provided by the competitor CD or MP3
The same music doesn't have to be used for all the flights.
The music determines the tone of the flight, and the flight characteristics.
The music can be started by either a pilot assistant, or one of the CIM staff.

Special Effects:
All special effects (limbo, steamers) must be pre-approved by the contest director.

This would be a good chance to give indoor pattern a try. The Sportsman sequence is fairly simple, but a challenge to perfectly  just the same.
2012 Sportsman For HEF Geneva F3P

I know Paul has stuck his neck out putting this on essentially out of pocket, so if you want to see more F3P style flying locally then please come out and fly, or even just to watch.
He is also hoping some of the US guys will come up for this pre-ETOC  contest. If they do then there will be some really good flying to watch without traveling 5 hours to Toledo and back.

If you are on the fence and your only excuse is no suitable model, I do have a couple of spares that could be borrowed  :). Need to thin the herd a bit anyway.
Send me a PM if you want to borrow something for the contest.
