Question for @Polecat and @cpaine about EF1 kits....

Now that ARFs are becoming few and far between, I am considering an EF1 build for a winter project 2017/18.  In your opinions:

  • Which is the easiest kit to build?
  • Which finished kit flies the best?

Thanks,
Simon

Simon  There are really only two kits that will be available, the Estrellita and the Cosmic Wind, both are produced by Don Stegall. But he has some glass work to do, so it may be late fall when available.
I would go with the Estrellita, with the foam wing, the Comic Wind has a built up wing.
The Estrelitta is not to difficult to build but the foam wing takes some work, I could help you with it. The Cosmic Wind has the plug in wings, same set up as the Shoestring.
Have a look in the NMPRA web, go in to the E F 1 forums, Don has all the info there, also the Estrelitta plans are there.
The Estrelitta may still become an ARF and be sold by Airborne Models in Ca.

very Cool! 8) building has its challenges, but very rewarding. especially when you can cover it make it your own!
Mr. Fluney has built just a few more then me. But i will say this. the wing is the hardest part, and most time consuming. foam core wings need to be skinned fiberglass cloth/ carbon fibre and possibly a spar. leading edge/ trailing edges need to be added, sanded and true. I have no problem helping out in this department. I use a vacuum bag system for this process....and im cheap
the fuse usually snaps together pretty good, all laser cut parts/ puzzle. tail can be fairly simple as well......
kits still available? some are out in your neck of the woods in the UK

I have no additional infoon that right now other then the link i posted earlier in this post
