Hopefully you all know that during the cold, dark winter months, we all get together once a month for a Pilot's meeting.

(We actually hold meetings twice a month - one is the Pilot's meeting, the other is a build clinic.)

The meetings are held on a Wednesday evening from 7pm, at Colonel Mustard's pub on Hwy 7 in Markham.  We always meet in the bar first, from around 5pm, for dinner and drinks, and then head downstairs to a private room for the meeting.  We usually finish between 9pm and 9:30pm.

All members are welcome - you can also bring friends or partners (if you are feeling very daring!)  It's really an excuse to be sociable, and get out of the house to talk all things RC or aircraft related, but we do try to arrange a talk or show every month.  Some of the topics are RC related (power systems, FPV, 3D printing, paint mixing) and some are not (Apollo missions to the moon!)  And every month we do "Show 'n' Tell" where we ask you to bring in your current projects to show and inspire others.  Plus, there is a lot of sarcasm and humour!  ;D

I have an ask:

If there is a topic that you would like to have more information about, or have someone do a talk on (60-90 minutes) please add your suggestions below here or send me or @battlestu a private message.

Or, if there is something that you would like to do a talk on, and think the membership would be interested to hear about, you can either leave a comment here, or send me or Greg a message.

Thanks in advance,
Simon

Just a reminder we are always looking for new ideas for our pilot's meeting. So if you have a topic you wish to present or if there is something you would like to learn about don't hesitate to contact me or Simon.

Thanks
Greg

Hey @battlestu ,

I have always been intrigued by the eclectic bunch that comprise TEMAC.  I think it would be great to hear first hand, gratuitously embellished by members of the audience, how folks got started in the hobby and how they continue to get away with it!! :D

Remember the Naked City TV series, and its iconic tag line "There are eight million stories in the naked city.  This has been one of them."?  I'm sure we've got at least that many stories!!

Hi Simon,
Do you think that anyone would be interested in a short video of my recent Spitfire fight from Biggin Hill? I've edited it down to 25 minutes, so not too lengthy. It seemed there was quite a response to my email the day after the event, so it occurred to me some guys might like to see the whole 9 yards?

Let me know where/when. I have the movie on my MacBook Pro if that can be accommodated technically? It has Thunderbolt outputs but I have an adapter that can convert to HDMI or USB. If not, I can download it to a memory stick if that helps?

I do thinks so, yes!   :D

But it's not up to me anymore!  ;D

I'll let Michael respond.....

Have to agree with a big YES, Roger.

But, I feel you buried the lead in that story, then buried the shovel you used to bury the lead.

Maybe it was just the way I first read it... your excellent account of a once in a lifetime Spitfire adventure... incredible... but... then... Sid, decals, infantry in ditches, a flight to Canada, the whole story is mind blowing.

I want the whole story, backstory, sidestory... the lot... and no trimmed down version either.  You talk... we'll drink.  :D

Michael

Roger has the movie on my MacBook Pro. It has Thunderbolt outputs but he has an adapter that can convert to HDMI or USB.

The movie can also be downloaded onto a memory stick.

Does anyone have the equipment and screen to get this going?

I have projector and screen plus a portable speaker. Would need HDMI input for picture and probably 3.5mm out for sound.

RogMason

OK Simon, that will work, thanks.

Next question is "when"?  When would the executive like to have this?  I am away Dec14 - 23rd  but apart from that I should be available.

Let me know please.

Nov 6.

If you guys confirm that we will have the equipment and personnel to run the video, then I'll officially announce the meeting and the agenda.

Nov 6th is good for me also.
Simon, can we test the set up before hand?  I can come to you as I only have lightweight equipment to carry? Any suggestions for time/place?
