Everything is done.

Radio works, wigglers work, motor (auger) works.

Final score: Total weight 33.2 oz.* with a 3 cell 1500mah battery.
The original weight with the Speed 600 and 7 cell (8.4 volts) 1.6 amp nicads: 45.8 oz.  This is 12.6 oz or 38% heavier than the BL/lipo version.  Wow.

* the 33.2 oz total weight breaks down as follows-  Fuse: 22.6 oz, wing 10.6 oz

Maidened the UHU this morning at Rogo Field.  Rob D. tossed it in the air.  Flew extremely well and a surprising amount of power considering it is only a 450 outrunner.  Used a larger than required battery to act as nose weight.  Used a 3S 2200.  If balance were not a problem I would have preferred a 1200 3S pack.

All brushed motor designs come out tail heavy when converted to brushless motors.

Flew the UHU for the second time today and trimmed it out.  Then handed the TX to Piker who flew it for about 10 minutes and belly landed it.  Can't have Piker come to the field, do a lot of heavy lifting to clean out the river and then not fly.
A nice flying airplane.  Measured the output on 3 cells- 130 watts (12.5 amps).

Am going to leave it as is.  It is a nice combo.

Proof it flew.  Photo from May 8 training day.
Notice I even managed to launch it directly upwind. 8)

Had two nice flights tonight and noticed that the nose had cracked on both sides.  This plastic is old and very brittle.
Will have to glue and re-inforce it with carbon tow.

Nice flying airplane.
