My old car died before Christmas and took delivery of a new (used) car last week.  Bright red just like Gerald's and Glenn's cars.  No more sneaking up to the field in a charcoal grey van or as Graham would say "two 2x4's with a car attached." 8)

Just now when I told my dear wife that emptying out the old car was like an archeological dig she swiftly replied "dumpster diving"  ;D ;D

See how my best friend treats me. ;)

I hear there's a lot of room under that hood because it's pedal powered.

Close.  It looks more like this... with a 72 meg antenna out the back. ;)

At @Frank v B's standard 500 watts/lb and a 1200 lb carriage, I'm betting on a 1600S battery pack at 100 amps! 8)

Congrats Frank!

Only 500w/lb?
Yea 400W/lb should about do it.. But wouldn't a nice round 500 be better?

Ed,

great to hear from you.

re: the "Only 500w/lb?"

You know that was written by Andy who is a disciplined but conservative full-size Cessna 150 pilot. He usually expresses power in terms of "number of turns".   ;D

That's a pretty nice Cessna, but flight times leave a little to be desired.

And that's a busy runway!!!  I'd be worried about hitting someone and damaging my plane!   :o

I found Blueprints of Franks New Red Car

Vadim,

What a laugh. Sooooo close. :D
You know it has been upgraded to a single cell lipo at 3.7 volts versus the 1.5 volt AA.  My motor is even brushless! ;D

Frank,
That's a Mr. Bean car isn't it?  Reliant 3 wheeler?

There was another 3 wheeler that was popular along with the Reliant Robin in Britain in the '60's, it was called the 'Bond' Mini-car.  It had nothing to do with James Bond (REALLY nothing to do with him!).  Bond was the name of the manufacturer.  The funny thing was, to start the car, the owner would have to raise the bonnet (hood), step inside and 'kick-start' the 2-stroke, Villiers motorcycle engine that drove the single front wheel! :-)

Three -Wheelers were popular at the time, as they were dirt cheap and having less than four wheels, could be driven using a motorcycle licence.  That meant no car driving lessons or driving test, which was a big deal.
