First real flying day- Saturday, May 16, 2020
« on: May 16, 2020, 03:24:29 pm »
What a gorgeous day.  I arrived at 9:45 in an effort to make sure things we agreed to with the city were implemented in an orderly manner.  Thank you everyone for your co-operation.

About a dozen people showed including new member Alan Lofft, Michael, Peter, Alex, and 3 of the Ryerson boys.

I maidened my L'il Roughneck (23" span, 3 cells, 180, 5 oz auw) and it flew fine.  It needs more rudder throw.  A turn was initiated with full deflection rudder, then the trims had to be shoved over completely to complete the turn... both ways.  Landed fine.  Enough power.

Michael maidened 3 of his new airplanes by the time I left (Fournier power glider, Citation and Dragon)  He had a big grin.

Peter flew his  P-47 Jug and  Bearcat (maiden).  They flew majestically.

Photos:
99- Ryerson assembling their new competition drone.
00- Ryerson's new massive plane (19 kg, five 120 amp ESC's, two 6S 16,000mah batteries in series).  More e-power than the average house.
01- New member Alan Lofft for his check-out flight.  Everything was fine.
03- Peter having a tough day.... not!
09- Who is behind the Covid mask??  Alex.  He flew his new competition bipe.
10- Michael hiding behind the mask.
12- Peter assembling the P-47
13- Michael and his Covid Fournier motor glider.  Took off fine and flew great.
17- Michael's Fournier- proof of concept.  It flew!
25- Michael's Dragon flying boat pre-maiden.

Hey Michael, How did the dragon fly?
I was out at the field later when Glenn was there and others.
I enjoyed it so much I left my transmitter there.
Actually, I can.

The dragon flew great!

A bit fast (maybe I flew it that way because it was windy), but no trim changes were needed.
