Hi Ken, Racers,

Some of you know why, but right now I'm afraid I can't commit. I would love to be there - but I'm a maybe at best. Sorry!

I do have a new Outrageous to build for 2019 though!

Cheers,
S

Looks like we will have a good entry [11] for the Sept. 30 race. If you have a friend who wants tag along we can use the help. Also just hope the weather gods are good to us.

Go Fast Turn Left.

To the "left of Toronto" pylon boys.

Us TEMAC pylon racers have started setting our sights on next Sunday's pylon race.  Talked to Glenn, Mike and Greg H today at our TEMAC Skills Challenge and we are mentally ready.  Michael is probably good to go but I did not talk to him about it today and Simon's decision is on a day-to-day basis. You should be getting scared silly.  We figure the trash talking will add a second to Cory's time so now he will only beat us by 25 seconds. ;)

got me rattled now! love it!!  I flew 30 laps on 2 toni's  yesterday, man i love my Toni's!! feeling groovy!
We might have an old friend from Buffalo NY joining us.. bit of drive, but he is trying to make it.
Weather looks coolish right now, which is fine as long as the wind holds off!
How are we doing for help Ken?

Cory   For help, I have Rob, Steve, Wayne and Ron. Waiting to here from 2-3 club guys but you know what our club is like now, not like the good old days.
Just hoping for the winds to not get up, calling for around 15C.

Ken,

As usual, let's just do a headcount of helpers/ when we get there.  Then we will man the important stations and go fly.
I vote that Cory be permanently stationed and shackled to Pylon 1 so he can't fly in the race.  Wishful thinking. ;)

Bruce,

The closest to you is Michael if he can make it.  If not, I can pick you up and get you there.... and if you are nice.... back too!! ;D
I will post the directions tomorrow.  Yes, I took exact mileages at each turn last time we raced.

We will meet at the Tim's at hiway 9 and 27 in Schomberg.  Same place as last year.

Directions to Orangeville's EF-1 RaceFest.

We start at Tim's on the west side of Hiway #27, less than one km south of Hiway #9.  Note: Hiway #27 is 6 km west of Hiway 400 at the south end of Holland Marsh.

We will leave Tim's in a convoy by 9 am.

West on Hiway 9 for 34.1 km's where #9 "T's" into #10 where the McDonald's is located just north of the intersection.
North on Hiway 10  for 13.4 km's to Sideroad 20.  This is just after you see the first Windmills to the west.
West (left) on 20 for 16.3 km's until the road ends at a "T" intersection stop sign.  Turn right (north)... after you stop!
North on this road.  After 1.4 km's it turns into a gravel road.  At the 3.2 km mark from the "T" intersection you will see a farm on the right.  It is the first farm north of the little concrete bridge in the road. Drive between the buildings and turn left at the fork in the driveway (200').  Just before you hit the grass runway  (300 ft) it turns east (right).  You will see the cars and the stars.

Frank (Mr. Second Last)

Good to go.

Am picking up Bruce at the King Sideroad park off the 400 (N.E. corner) at 8 am tomorrow morning, then aiming to be at Tim's Hiway 9 and 27 for 8:30.  Hoping to see a number of TEMAC delegates there to start our trash talking like:  "who is this Cory guy anyways?"

Safe trip everyone.

Just got home from Orangeville and had a great time as usual.

Bruce, Mike H., Greg H. Glenn and I took the TEMAC colours to the EF-1 start line.  Glenn had the best luck of the TEMAC guy... mostly because he has the greatest ability.  Cory won again.  He usually wants to beat up on his father but he has progressed to teaching us all a lesson.  Bruce was elected to help run the race because he was the only one of us who could count to 10 ;)

Photos are of the TEMAC gang. Photo 11- Mike Hazelton, Photo 17- Greg Hazelton,  Photo 20- Bruce Weaver, Photo 21 Glenn Nikolaiko

Thanks to Ken Fluney and all the volunteers who braved the weather (spitting rain) and the cold.

Had another fun day at the Orangeville race course!

Had some troubles with my plane that kept me on the ground 50% of the time but I enjoyed myself nonetheless. With some minor tweaks and some fresh batteries I'll be back at again next season.

these photos show why Bruce was so valuable.  He could do the higher math stuff like count to 7,8,9. ;) 8)

The red number 1 shows he was counting for racer 1.  Two planes per heat.

This is why you don't mess with Glenn.  An off course take-off headed hard left and towards Glenn.  He put up his arm to protect his head and was cut.  Merely a flesh wound.
There was blood on his boot.  The photo shows the shape of Rick's prop after Glenn finished with it.  Mike doing the medical detail with a band-aid.

and... don't mess with Mike H.'s plane either.  On take-off both planes met.  Rick's plane was battle scarred... but flew again.  The aftermath of linking up with an 8X8 APC.

Yes, Bruce can count.  What I am amazed is, @Frank v B was able to place the photos from today in the post in proper sequence.  Thanks for the ride to and from Frank.

The Orangeville gang was a lot of fun.

Over all I was very impressed with our TEMAC representatives showing at the race.

While volunteering to keep time and count laps for Frank, I felt like the batteries were almost dead in the stop watch and rather than having to turn the lap cards as he passed each time in front of me, I felt like I was turning the page of calendar.  (As Frank advised, you don't have to fly fast to do well, and he was certainly proof of it.)  :-*

@sihinch and @Polecat

I thoroughly enjoyed the day and races.

Simon, I was advised by many that the tree you were known for frequenting had been removed for your benefit.

Being a timer and lap counter at this event, I was impressed with how consistent SOME of the competitors were with their heat times. In a number of instances competitors posted identical times to just a second or two difference in the 4 heats they ran in.  (I don't want to say this, but Frank was the most inconsistent time-wise, but had the greatest improvement from his first heat to his last - the way I saw it anyhow.)

To get to your inquiries: At this time I am undecided about purchasing one until I find out more about the activity.

Ken, is there any link or information I and others could review that provides details about the airplane types, restrictions, etc.?

Many thanks for a great day and introduction to the event (except for the weather).

    Hey Guys,

Certainly was a fun day. The weather held off until we finished all the heats and more importantly No major crashes!
With the exception of me playing catch with an EF1 racer, everything was good.
I would like to share a few photo's of the days events. Please note Mike finessing his model for the next race, He used those sheet metal shears with the delicate skill of a surgeon with a scalpel!

The Invictus sets to low to the ground and the back of the fuselage bottom is setting in the grass, causing drag. Mike needs a taller landing gear. I will look after that, have some in stock. @thehaze
