This is a rather good documentary on the Mosquito, including an interview with John 'Cats Eyes' Cunningham near the end of the film. You may recall it was Cunningham who first flew airborne radar in Beaufighters and later in the Mosquito night fighter. The success of the radar was so great, the Air Ministry leaked the story that the pilot had incredible night vision, which of course wasn't true as Cunningham states in this film.
There was also popular belief that Cunningham's extraordinary night eyesight, was as a result of him eating lots of carrots. So good was the deceit, British housewives grew more carrots in their vegetable gardens and delivered them to RAF bases. :-)
