Title: Build class 2020 Build projects
Post by: Frank v B on February 14, 2020, 07:26:21 PM
At this week's pilots' Meeting Michael and I covered two potential projects:

The Alien Aircraft 42" span Seadragon flying boat http://alienaircraft.com/k304.htm.  Michael has bought the kit and will post his build with photos
The Joy Stick aerobatic simple low wing wheeled Ugly Stick type plane.  39" span, 450 size motor on 3 cells.  https://freercplans.com/plan-joy-stick-2594.htm
I will do a post with photos.

Have a look at the build posts and follow along.  We will bring them to the next meeting so you can see the progress.  This is not an either/or project.  If the interest is split, we can build both.  If the interest leans more to one, we may focus on one.

The objective of the exercise will remain the same.  To get people to build a balsa plane start to finish.

If you are a rank beginner builder and do not have equipment beyond an X-Acto knife, a sanding block and a tube of glue, we will assign a mentor to help you get through the hard parts and borrow equipment where required (covering iron, heat gun, etc).

We also aim to source as many parts for our participants from our collections (wheels, clevises, pushrods, screws, nuts and bolts, etc.).  Many of us have waaayyy too many parts in drawers that should be attached to flyable airplanes.

Enjoy the build posts and insult critique the builders.  We can take it.  We have for years! ;)
