it's that time of the year.... Warbird day!!!
Come out and show off those warbirds!!
Warbirds - Don't get them mixed up with Warwings!
well aren't I glad I have 2 new P47s, a new P-40, 2 Mustangs, a big Spitfire and 2 little ones as well as a Douglas Dauntless.
The other thing I have for the 22nd is Tickets for a matinee show for "Come From Away". We can just not go she said. We all know where that is going, so sadly, I will have to miss Warbird this year.

Rob, didn't you know?
It is just your luck that this year's Pre-Warbird day is being held on Saturday the 21st. The Pre-Warbird day is intended for the celebration of all those who have other commitments for the 22nd.
Just checked with the Wing Commander and I was wrong, our tickets are for Saturday the 21st. We are staying downtown overnight and then driving to 6 Mile Lake to spend a couple of days with the kids. I will be thinking of you guys though.
Re: What could possibly go wrong?
Your scheduling... :'(
Let me see. Hmmmm. I should be able to have the following ready:
- foamy P-51 (450 size)
- 480 size P51
- .45 size P-51
- .10 size Corsair...with Charlie at the helm.
- RareBrear- well, it started as a WW2 BearCat.
- B25 Mitchell (repaired small foamy)
Can we turn the heat down a little for this event. With all the work I have done outside, I'm already medium rare*. ;)
Frank
* Bruce and Andy's "ON" switch.

Hi
@Frank v B ,
Foamies are an excellent choice. They float!! 8)
Andy
I'm an optimist.
Often, a forecast of <1 mm of rain, results in no rain.
:D
Hoping for the best is good policy as is planning for the worst. Are there plans to reschedule if the weather doesn't co-operate on Warbirds Day?
As I posted in reply to Simon's Tickler , I will be at Tim's Woodbine at 10 am regardless of the weather... even if Andy gets his wish for snow! ;D Leave for the field at 10:30 am.

@Frank v B will be giving a lecture on Meteorology 101 at Tim's starting at 1430Z (1030 EDT). His presentation slides are attached below.
It is sure to be a thought-provoking lecture.

Andy's Alpha-Bet Soup again.
For those of us who have never taken a course in Airport hieroglyphics that report means nothing to me. I do understand "It's raining, stupid". ;D

@Frank v B ,
I may (do) call you many things, but
never "stupid" (especially when there are so many better words to choose from in my Thesaurus!) 8)
"Wx Man" Andy
Hi all lets call this one a wash out and try again next week.
Sorry for the short notice but i was hopeful the weather forecasters would be wrong about today's weather.
Thanks
Greg

Thanks Greg,
Saturday or Sunday next week?
Four of us met at Woodbine Tim's and dreamed about flying. We consumed coffee instead. Richard, Andy, Greg H. and I had a perfectly fine time.
Rain, Rain, go away..... and never come back!! ;)
Frank
Maybe we should of changed it to a float fly.... sun-brella optional
Hi Bill... i was thinking of next Sunday. (I've also updated the calendar... not sure how to link it in the forum so i took a screenshot)
thanks

@Frank v B showed the clientele at Tim's that he is a true master of the indoor fun fly! His low pass over the donuts was amazing!! :D
Andy
Greg,
Thanks for Sunday...Sunday should work. I'd really like to come to this event but Tim Hortons in Bobcaygeon is a lot closer than Tim Hortons in Stouffville or Gormley.
Hi all... just a reminder that the forecast for Sunday's warbird event is looking very good (much better than last weekend :) )
....and if the weather wasn't a reason to come out. A generous donor has offered this awesome WWII print of Johny Johnson in combat. It is in a nice pewter colour frame which doesn't show here and includes an authentic RCAF set of 'Wings' inset in the mat.
So bring out those warbirds and "best in show" will take this home!
We'll explain more what "best in show" is at the piot's meeting Sunday at the event.
Thanks
Greg
Oh, Darn. Can't make it Sunday the 29th. Attending it would not be wise for me. Our 40th wedding anniversary... if I make it another 3 days. Will be thinking of you. :( :'(

I wonder how deep
@Frank v B would get planted if he missed his 40th!! (We all know that you have to earn credits
before going to the flying field!) 8)
Happy Anniversary good buddy. A real testament to Cynthia's triathlon-like stamina and endurance!!
Andy
Thanks for the update Greg and congratulations Frank! Wishing you many more!
Greg, that framed print looks awesome!
to get everyone ready for this weekend's event:

Wow! Can't match Greg's vid for excitement, but here's my pic shot from my yard at about noon today and titled "Thirty Seconds Over Bobcaygeon"
It's an American B-25 visiting Peterborough heading S over Pigeon Lake...a fitting good omen for Warbirds Day...BTW, next week we get the B-29 FiFi
A nice Warbirds day with friends and flying. (In that order)
I had more time to share with friends because my transmitter battery went too low on me... Only had a couple of flights early on with my Sopwith Triplane. But I guess if the number of wings count for anything, I tripled my pleasure.
The rain held off for most of the afternoon. We had a few cracks of thunder and a couple of bolts of lightning that got everyone scurrying to take down the sun shades.
Graham did a fine job of BBQing and the rest of us had a fine time enjoying his tube steaks, done to perfection.
Rob Dickinson won the most 'courageous flier' and brought home the beautiful print that had been anonymously donated as a prize for today's event.
I have provided a few pictures below. I am sure there will be many more because there was lots of activity.
As you can see, the mosquitoes were quite heavy today. Flying right through Bill's left ear and out his right.
Bruce,
re: "...We had a few cracks of thunder and a couple of bolts of lightning that got everyone scurrying"
That was just my dear wife giving me a lecture on what I have to accomplish in the future now that we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary today.
Yes Dear! ;D ;) 8) She used the sound of thunder to delete the expletives. :)
Looks like I missed a great day... or as Andy would say "It was a great day because Frank missed it!!" ;D
Sorry I missed Glenn's Mosquito Mission and Wingnutz's visit.
Frank
Thanks everyone for a short (ened by weather) great day and especially to Glenn for his one man tribute to the RAF's Centenary. Missed a few of the regulars but enjoyed the event...can't wait to see the pictures of Oscar's hat...umbrella...okay, umbrella hat!
BTW I drove N on ON 48 going home and by the time I got to Ballantrae, it was raining so hard, I had to pull off the road and wait a few minutes. We left at the right time!
Bill,
I really enjoyed seeing the pair of Mosquito's up for a flight...very cool indeed!
The weather was just as forecast, but the crack of thunder over head certainly told us that it was time to leave!
Just another great day at TEMAC! I am looking forward to seeing some of Greg's (or anyones) flying shots, the sky made for an amazing backdrop.
had a great time thanks to all that came out! Here are just a few shots I got with the clouds :) ... hoping to get all the photos posted in the photo album.
Great photos Greg!
Thanks!
Glenn,
Really enjoyed the Mossie flight too! I wish my model had been a bit faster and able to better keep up with yours, but overall, great fun!...and you're right, great photos Greg! Thanks!
I've repaired the bent landing gear on the Mossie and am looking forward to flying it soon...
