Maiden Flight, Pica Waco Y3M

Another Kijjiji find.

Old PICA kit built Waco, it was a master builders in my opinion, but required a fair amount of repair.  Plus the good old electric conversion.  I used a 60 size EP and one of those $26 dollar 80Amp ESC you see on Amazon with the yellow writing.

The engine mounted easy, but the battery was a problem.  PICA models are carved in the front and it makes for a pain to make a hatch.  But PICA generally has a box built for the gas tank.  I had to take the firewall off and make it unscrewable if that makes any sense.  So it is charged with the battery in the plane.  I also have a battery monitor in the cockpit to make sure its down to storage levels when done flying.

Its a beautiful model.

Maiden went well, I did notice a lazy elevator servo, so that needs to be changed as it was causing strange inputs taking off.

Enjoy.
