You're the second person to suggest that. I was using 2 different brand speed controls, so it's a possibility.

I replaced the 70 amp speed controls (which got really hot) with matching 100s.

No issues now. 4th and 5th flights were better. I even did a roll!

Nylon sticker windows added (Thanks David).

Wow!  I had to dig WAY down in the build group to find this topic of mine.  What a great club with so much building and conversation going on, year after year.

So, after being out of the hobby for a few years, I'm doing what I can to crawl back into being active.  One of my goals for this summer was to test fly my American Eaglet that had been finished and ready to fly for over three years.

I'm very happy to report that I flew it twice this evening, and it flew beautifully.  Yes, it's light wind, tootle around, low and slow, kind of plane, but it was a pleasure to fly.

It's a simple plane but I'm quite proud of the way I built and detailed it.  Particularly the scale motor detail that I built from scrap using balsa, spruce, springs from ball point pens, wires and nuts and bolts to represent the spark plugs and wiring.

I just thought I'd share to finish off this thread.  Photo credit to resident photographer, Mr. Andy Hoffer.

Thanks for listening  ;D

It looks like it happened right after it sounds like you throttled right down.  I wonder of one fan slowed faster than the other, producing a yaw effect.

Anyway, nice recovery.

I made it out to the field too, for a change.  But I didn't get there until 7:00pm.  Kenny and friends were there, flying fast jets and a cool helicopter.

I brought out four planes and flew three of them twice each, but the re-test flight of a pattern plane I bought from Michael a few years ago didn't go so well.  Part way through the flight after getting it trimmed out nicely and doing a couple of axial rolls, the motor quit and I lost complete control.  All I could do was watch it plummet into he farmers field.  The plane is a write-off.

Fortunately, the maiden flight of my other plane went very well, I'll tell a little about that in my old building post for that plane.

I would be remiss if I were to let @Frank v B run roughshod over the BBQ without at least attempting to rein him in a bit.

I will be there.  Bring your cameras/phones to capture what I am sure will be classic FvB chagrin, replete with pursed lips!! 😂😂😇

I don't know. I'm thinking about it.

That looks like a fun build, Guy.

We're looking forward to seeing it fly!
