A motto to live by:
"What other people think of me is none of my business"

Hi Jack;

Thanks so much for the kind thoughts. For those of you who don't know, in January my wife noticed a very small spot behind my ear in a place I would never see myself. A surgeon had to take about 1/4 of my ear off, which is just enough to frighten women and small children on the street. My major surgery to see if the cancer has spread is slated now for April 3.

Just a word to the wise here. Make sure you check yourself and your loved ones regularly for suspicious looking marks. Melanomas are very often found where the sun doesn't shine, so get someone near and dear to check the places you can't see. That alone could be a lot of fun!

Good Advice.

My Dad had to have one of his ears removed for the same reason a year ago. He's doing well now, although he's a little more aerodynamic on one side.

The Sun's effect on the skin over time can be serious. We should all keep that in mind as the weather warms up and we start dreaming of summer days at the field. A hat and sunscreen are not optional accessories.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for both of you guys.
