Title: Elder 40 - Maiden Today?
Post by: Chappers on May 08, 2022, 09:21:04 AM
Hi all, for those that might be interested, I plan to maiden my kit built Elder 40 'Golden Age' style monoplan this afternoon(wind permitting!). Its only took me 3 winters to build - I blame Frank's building class which is where the build started - must have added some molasses to slow down the build schedule  ;)

It went perfect!  Except for the wind, little gusty, but no match for Simon!  It was amazing to see!  Michael should have some pictures coming shortly!

Simon,

re: "I blame Frank's building class which is where the build started"

If you are blaming me for the start of this build, are you also going to blame me for the successful maiden flight?? 8)

A rhetorical question of course. ;)

Good job

Frank

Congratulations!  Beautiful plane.   Well worth the time and effort.

Only took three winters... perfect.

There are many model hobbyist in the club that have projects in various stages of construction or reconstruction, with full intent to complete them as time and circumstances permit.

A hobby is a pleasurable activity that one enjoys at their own pace.

Thanks to Michael bringing his Elder and uploading photos, and to Greg for his last minute technical advice. Bit windy but unusually for me managed to keep it mostly straight and level!

And of course, additional thanks to Frank for not showing up and jinxing the maiden!  ;)
