Yesterday, managed to kidnap the rest of the family and take them to Kermit Weeks' Fantasy of Flight Museum just outside of Orlando. The museum is in a re-building phase and and only one hangar is open for viewing. The older hangar/restaurant complex is still there but dedicated to aircraft restoration and closed to the public. There was a polished P-51 sitting outside the older hangar, waiting to be flown.
Still, some pretty nifty vintage birds in the hangar open to the public, including a German Albatros, Nieuport 17, a B-24, Grumman Wildcat, Curtiss P-40, and a slew of Golden Age of Aviation racers. There's a full-size Super Constellation out on the lawn which was flown in to the airfield! There were two biplanes flying while we were there...one was a Stearman. I had more fun here than at Disney World and not just because the lines were shorter!
Many if not most of these aircraft are airworthy and Kermit(that really is his name) flies almost all of them himself! Talk about the ultimate toy box!
DOWN WITH GRAVITY! UP WITH LEVITY!

Wow!  Nice.

Does he still have the Sunderland there?

What a beautiful collection!  Very esoteric stuff!

Thanks for sharing Bill.  Too bad you're missing the cold and snow here!   ;D
