We all like be friendly and encourage new people in the hobby,

but ...

Last weekend, a man came to our club, and mentioned that one of our members had helped him fly one of his plane before at TEMAC. He wasn't a member. (It's OK to help someone out so they can consider joining our club.)

However, he began asking another member if he could come by for some help again, without saying anything about joining the club. I then asked him if he was a member of MAAC, to which he answered no.

I told him clearly that he is not allowed to fly at our club.

Flying at TEMAC without MAAC membership jeapordizes our insurance coverage, without which we cannot operate the club.

If anyone wants to visit our club and actually fly a model, they must be a member of MAAC. If anyone wants to return to fly a second time, they must join our club.

People want to fly at our club because the field is in good shape, and because there are qualified flyers to help out. We all pay for the lease and upkeep.

They have to pay for the privilege too, just as we all do.
