Our next door neighbour, Chuck, has cleared the snow at TEMAC and so we're open for flying.

I haven't seen it yet, but Chuck tells me he's cleared down to the washroom.

I don't know how much snow is in the pits, so be aware and careful when you go out.

It looks like a couple of flyable days this week.  I'll be out tomorrow.

Monday 1 pm in Stouffville:

1°, feels like -3, Wind 13 km/h South, Wind Gust 24 km/h.

Reasonable. I'm planning on flying at 1pm.

Wow!  He did a gorgeous job! Our driveway doesn't even look this good in summer!! All the potholes are filled with packed snow.

A word of warning: there is ice just below the packed snow in the driveway. In some cases, the ice lenses are visible at the surface. They are REALLY slippery, and some a very well hidden.

It's party time!!

Flying conditions are fantastic today. Light to moderate SE winds.  Temp is about 1 degree C.  Snow is perfect, with about 1" of fresh soft snow.

There are even visitors (Rob D)!!

Skies broken to overcast stratocumulus. Snow in the pits is 10"-12" deep for me (150 lbs wearing snowmobile boots).

New alternative to arrestor cables at TEMAC!!

Great flying today (Monday Feb 16, 2026)
A few modifications are needed to my glider for better performance (add nose weight!!)
Thank you for the snow clearing; more flying sessions in the forecast.

Michael

Conditions were better than forecast. Winds were very low, it wasn't so cold, and we even got a sunny blue sky for a couple hours.

Flyers included Andy, David, George, Aaron, Guy and me!

I had 8 flights!

It is very slippery in the parking area, and there's a lot of snow (average a foot deep) in the pits.

More snow pics to show just how much snow was moved around.

Michael's "water" retrieval boat was doing donuts in the parking lot.

An even nicer day today (Feb. 17, 2026), with a nice blue sky, very sunny, almost no wind, and about 10 degrees C.

9 pilots came out today, and at times there were 5 planes in the sky. Just a wonderful day!

Just been to the flying site - unfortunately the access has been blocked off again by the road clearing ploughs.
It's just too deep for me to risk it at this time.

Michael

When David saw what you saw, he called for clearing at around 1pm; the access was cleared by 2pm.

Dave, Andy and I spent a couple of hours flying. It was cold and a bit windy (in our faces from the east), but we had fun.

It is VERY slippery in the parking area.
