Who's going?
What's the date?
I think it is the weekend of June 24th. I am going. This time I will bring my sun shelter.
Looking forward to it as always!
Yep. I expect to be able to go too!
It's a regular "Airplane Guys Weekend" away. Everyone who like to fly planes and hang out should join us! ;D
I'm gonna try....
I'm assuming the funfly is the 25th and 26th of June.
I usually book a motel for the Friday and Saturday nights; this time the 23rd and 24th.
The usual motel, the Wilton-Odessa, is currently for sale, and is not taking reservations.
If a few of us go, it might be nice to stay at the same motel, preferably somewhere where ground floors are available.
Any suggestions?
We have stayed at the Best Western Fireside in a few times. They have nice rooms, a good bar/restaurant and I think and outdoor pool. I think their rates are about $160 a night. The rooms all have ground access. The other place that comes to mind is the Ambassador Hotel. It is good to, somewhat cheaper, but they only have 2nd floor rooms. Too bad about the Wilton Hilton, that was a nice place.
Dates confirmed!
Club: KINGSTON R/C MODELLERS
Event: KRCM Electric Fun Fly
Sanction #: 2017-568
Date: June 24, 2017 to June 25, 2017
More details are on the MAAC site.

Any thoughts on motels?
As much as a room with a shower was very nice, I may just end up camping. It IS summer after all ;D
Either that or maybe bring the Airstream, if I can get the brakes working :o
I'll be looking into possible hotels over the next few days.
I won't book anything until I share information here first.
should I come? I've forgotten how to fly! :(
Of course you should!
You're a great flyer, and you're fun to be with!
I just love to see how big of an air mattress Colin can stuff into a little tent. ;D
I am looking forward to some Saturday evening float flying. The Widgeon is coming.
I've been told that the Wilton Hotel in Odessa (near the flying field) may be closing, and they're not taking reservations.
Here is a link of hotels not too far away; near the hobby store and the restaurants we usually visit.

I've stayed at the Seven Oaks before; it's not fancy, but it's basic and cheap (Approx. $80/night), and the rooms are on ground level, which is good if you're carrying in charging equipment.
Across the road is the Travelodge LaSalle, which seems better, (it's approx. $92/night), but most rooms are not ground level.
Any preference?
I like the looks of the Seven Oaks and the fact it is ground level, so that gets my vote.
Seven Oaks works for me too. I like the drive up entrance
My reservation is made! Friday night and Saturday night, June 23 and 24.
Price was $99 plus tax each night.
Their phone number: (613) 546-3655
Just reserved a room for both nights.
Booked! And I asked to be near my friends ;D
Anyone want to share, split cost of a room at Seven Oakes for Kingston?
Booked! I'll be across the street, so I won't be part of the public drinking indictment.
Huh. So you don't want to associate with us... eh?

Oh, I'll be there. I just won't be part of the arrests.
Kingston this weekend! I'm risking life and limb to be there so I hope lots of other TEMACers will be attending as well to help make this GREAT EVENT even more fun!
I'll be heading down the 401 around 12:00pm on Friday in hopes to get to the motel and settle in, meet up with Michael and some others for a visit to the local Hobby Shop, and then maybe to the field for some late afternoon flying.
Who else is going?
Simon H?
Greg H?
Andre W?
Greg C with some WWI???
Colin?
Glenn?
Who else????
Glenn is coming Friday afternoon, too (he told me).
Rob is coming.
Simon is not.
Maybe a movie Friday evening, after flying and dinner?
We're staying close to the cinema and the restaurants this time.
I'll be there. I haven't flown at all this season, but I'll throw my probably broken fleet into my car anyway. Would hate to miss it.
Ben
I never miss this event but my kids' birthday party is on this weekend so I'm gonna have to. :(
I wouldn't miss this event. My dad is coming too. The weather is looking good right now. We will be camping on site.
hoping to do a day trip..... let's see what work has in store for me ;)
Greg
Hey Ben,
This will be my third time flying this year, and the first time from land ;D
Definitely the first time this year for all the planes I'm taking. In fact, three of the planes I plan to fly there have only flown at one outing before... at Kingston last year... the last time I flew from land :o
We'll miss you, Colin.
Awww thanks Mike! Yeah I even look forward to our traditional Sat evening hanging out dinner. The whole weekend is such a cool relaxed hang out ... I encourage anyone who's not been to go. Think this is only the second or third time I'll be missing it in the last 15 years. (Births of my two kids and this time? :) Kingston typically falls on or around my anniversary and I STILL go! (and still happily married ... fancy that! lol!)
I plan to attend and have the room booked. We just put the house up for sale today, and so if we are busy with showings or offers I might have to cancel. I'll let everyone know closer to the weekend.
Hey Rob,
I hope you can make it and bring the big Bipe. I'm bringing mine this year so we should have a good showing with Glenn and Michael, if they bring theirs. Wouldn't it be great if Cadez would come with something with multiple wings. ;D
Looking forward to seeing you all this weekend! Wilf is making his place available for float flying on Saturday evening for anyone interested. Weather looks pretty good and the winds are predicted to be down the runway,
Martin
Thanks Martin,
We're looking forward to the great Kingston Fun Fly again this year ;D
Hey Guys,
Sorry to have to say I have to cancel this weekend. We put our house up for sale on Wednesday, and it seems there will be showings and hopefully offers this weekend, and I want to be around here. I cancelled my reservation at Seven Oaks motel, so there is a room available there. Sorry to let the side down, will be there next year. If you are on the fence about going, let me say it is a great time at a great club, with good friends, and you should do it.
Good luck with the sale. (My daughter just sold three day after listing)
Rain finishes today and the weekend looks clear.
Martin
Some pictures from Saturday. It was great spending time with some TEMAC members. Hope to see you soon

More Pictures by my friend Xavier https://goo.gl/photos/vZ2BqAzxX4SEnoZS8
Great pictures, Richard and Xavier! Thanks for sharing. I like the pictures because you can't feel the wind :o
Although it was pretty windy both days at the fun fly, there was still plenty of flying, and Sunday morning was a pleasant surprise for everyone, as we all expected to wake up to rain. It was great to see Richard and his son Alex from Montreal, as well as Xavier who was able to join us on Sunday. Of course, it's always great to see Martin and the Kingston gang, who alway put so much work into making this event fun and welcoming for everyone. And it's nice to see new and old friends from far away.
I personally had a pretty useless fun fly as far as the performance (or lack of) of my own planes is concerned, and as a result flew very little, but I had a great time and enjoyed relaxing, eating, hangin' out with friends, and watching others fly.
We did have a great time, and Robert still flew his Waterbomber spectacularly!
Some spectacular planes! Unfortunately I had to pass this year. Darn! Didn't see a mention of float flying. Did it happen this year?
There was no float flying.
It was too windy and we had no retrieval boat.
Robert, André and I each flew our flying boats (Waterbomber, Widgeon and Catalina) from the grass.
