Yeah, rub it in.   ;D

Peter P. and I were working outside near Bowmanville and enjoyed the day.....painting and fixing a house.

Guess what colour Peter had to paint the back yard shed?

Here is the latest on the Planeprint EVO . The thing is absolutely amazing in the way it goes together after the printing process is complete. I put everything in separate little labelled bags so I would know what goes where, as there are many parts. But the fit of everything is evidence of how much work and research Planeprint puts into his designs. I am waiting for the motor which  is supposed to come today.

The bad weather contributed to advancing on the Curtiss Jenny construction.
Dummy motor completed - it needs to be epoxied in place once the cowling is finished and painted.
Started on the ribs - 4 cut, 96 more to go. Some sanding will be required, but simple when you have a gauge/jig.
On April 11, I visited (once again) the the Canada Aviation and Space Museum and took some pictures for inspiration - see https://ingenium.ca/aviation/en/  Great museum to visit for any aviation buff.

Photo 4376 - The Curtiss Jenny at the museum - what a beauty!!
Photo 280 - Start of the engine block - it is a V8.
Photos 282 and 284 - Temporary installation and fit, painted with some brass.
Photo 283 - The template used to trace the top and bottom curves.  The airfoil is Eiffel 36 - yes that is the real plane's airfoil.
Photos 285 and 286 - Ribs completed so far. Easier than I expected, but slow and steady they will be completed. The hole is 1/4 inch punched with a sharpened brass tube.  The actual spar will be carbon fibre.

Quote from: Knightlite on April 16, 2026, 02:05:00 PM3DLabPrint.com offer a free download of the Piper J3 Cub and the model files come with floats. Thanks for the info Colin.  I'm not a fan of the 3DLabPrint branded planes.  They don't use infill and are very delicate to handle.  I'm also believe they don't take much time for finer details... e.g. reference to the Zero in the Cub plans and claims of "the first fully printable airplane files" which is simply not true.  I have printed one of their planes and I wouldn't print another.

However, the 3DLabGang planes are excellent.  These are planes designed by others and available on the 3DLabPrint site.  For example, the A7 Corsair II by Michael Hammer is a stunner, prints beautifully, is very solid, and has a good manual.

Further, the 3DLabPrint PolyLight 1.0 LW-PLA filament is great... wonderful colours, great to work with.

Mild to warm temperature, low winds, and mostly blue sky. Great flying all day!

We have a limited number of Spektrum Tx's that we make available to students.
Setting up the buddy box system is unfortunately not as easy as it sounds, and a lot depends on what gear the student has.
Having said that we always try to accommodate.
