2013 TEMAC Indoor Funfly
Sunday evening, Dec. 29, 2013, from 6pm to 10pm
Metro Toronto Golf Dome, 125 Milner Ave, Toronto, ON
TEMAC members get exclusive opportunity to fly before non-members are invited.
The event is limited to approx. 40 flyers. TEMAC members wishing to participate must make their reservations here in this thread on this website. The cost of participation for members is $15 for those who confirm early. Payment accepted at the event only. If enough members do not confirm participation by Nov. 29, 2013, then the event will be opened to any MAAC member. at which time the cost will be $20.
This will be an informal and casual funfly, with as few rules as possible, of course maintaining all safety rules as per MAAC. 2013 MAAC membership is required. Depending on models at the event, time may be allocated to different types of flying: slow-flying, aerobatic, 3D, etc. This will be decided at the event.
2.4ghz transmitters are recommended, but a frequency board will be used if at least one person requests it beforehand.
Depending on suggestions, we may have one or two short contests, and perhaps some prizes. Food is not provided, although the venue usually has some snacks, drinks and pizza for sale.
Any suitable indoor model airplane is allowed. Helicopter models are limited to the micro single-cell battery type.
This thread will be monitored by Michael and Jack. An up-to-date flyers list (below) will be maintained on this website.

Hi Folks:
My error. Benny Cheung should be in the 2013 membership database. I have made the necessary correction.
Spelling for Peter Chau matches my list.

Pat McK's friend, Ken Wilton and Dave G now confirmed.
I am coming.
Greg C is in!
I grabbed one of the new eflite extra 300 for the event. Looking forward to trying it out.
Anyone flying a 3D/pattern model with AS3X should be required to wear one of these, just so we know they are "cheating" :P
(I do have the Gee Bee with AS3X - it does fly very nice :-[)
"That's a Nice Hat"
Beatles reference, anybody ??? ;D
Working title for 'It's Only Love'
It's Only Love - The Beatles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv46hTWP7uk#)
Wrong thread Michael, but perhaps you are demonstrating a bit of precognition? ;)

"E-flite AS3X Extra now at Pinnacle"
Oooh, it was so tempting to jump on this.
I dropped by Pinnacle this afternoon and there was Bert picking up the last one of 14!
(I think there will be many green coloured flying machines at the Dome fly-in.)
I have picked up a new Xmas present (DX6i) and am now exercising hobby expense control.
(It was quite funny at Pinnacle today-- there was another gentleman in there saying "I don't know what I want, I just want something...")
So once I figure out how to work the transmitter with something to fly, I will be signing up for the 29th/Dec Dome fly.
Hoping Santa brings a new indoor flyer for the new radio. I think he just might. ;D
I had better get to work!

Wow!
Pretty cool indoor flyer in that video Ed! thanks for posting the link. Reminded me a bit of Michael's 6' indoor foamy Cub! At first I had trouble figuring out the thrust system...it's not the usual! Talk about slow and steady!
I think it would fit in Michael's dome slow flyer category...it's certainly not 3D or a fast flyer!
Dome Fly time is from 6pm to 10pm

We've been without power at home since Saturday evening (I'm at work now so I can post :)) but the fringe benefit was that I had nothing to do on Sunday other than get my indoor planes ready. I'm looking forward to the Great TEMAC Dome Fly of 2013!

Hi Rob,
Is your power back on yet? Ours died Sunday morning, came back on today.
We don't have a fireplace, so it got pretty cool last night
Still lots of areas without power, Pape Ave for example north of the Danforth was pretty much blacked out all the way to the Leaside Bridge
when I was on the bus this afternoon.
(Doesn't Colin live in that area?)
Has anyone checked to make sure the Golf Dome didn't deflate? :o
Pat

Pat
I spoke to them this morning.
Everything's fine there; the GREAT TEMAC INDOOR FUNFLY is still on schedule.
Note the time change: 6pm (not 7pm) to 10pm.
Another hour to fly! What a disappointment! Thank goodness we have you Michael lol
Yes Indeed, we can have him play tambourine from 6:00 until 7:00 if you wish!
Merry Christmas, I just heard some reindeer on the roof or maybe another branch has fallen.
I'm betting on reindeer ... no sawing just shoveling!
Jack.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Our power came back on as we were leaving the house yesterday for Christmas Eve dinner at my sister-in-law's place. There were still lots of areas that we drove through that didn't have power. I hope everyone is staying warm enough. We were lucky as our gas fireplace kept the house comfortable.
Oh, and Colin is at Lawrence and McCowan. I haven't heard from him lately.
Look forward to joinin y'all Sun

Yeah Pat, I used to live at Woodbine and Danforth ... and I hear that area was hit pretty bad. At my current place we were down for about a day or so ... we were lucky I guess. I know people (my brother Derek being one of them) who STILL don't have power from since Saturday!

Oh, and Colin is at Lawrence and McCowan. I haven't heard from him lately.
Our power was out for three days. It sure is nice to be able to charge batteries at home for winter flying again!
Our gas fireplace was the make or break for us too, aided by a Coleman stove on the front porch. I have taken great pains to point out to my good spouse the transferable skills and benefits of our hobby in times of emergency. Using 3-cell lipos to power a 12-volt cell phone car charger scored great points. Our resourcefulness, honed on things like building, repairing and flying RC aircraft, yields great domestic endorsements for that next RC purchase !!
Cheers!
Andy
Merry Christmas everyone!
Wow what a week, I was lucky, only lost power for 24 hours. However, I bought a generator. That helped big time.
Andy, You are such a trooper, well done on surviving three days without power.
Just wanted to say how much I am looking forward to seeing you guys at the dome fly
Cheers
Glenn
Count me in. See you all at the dome on Sunday Dec 29.
John Aurich
Will there be a Nooner race?
I'm bringing a racer!

John A is confirmed for the dome fly.
Hope everyone is managing well through these past several days.
Please add me to the list.
Graham
Graham is confirmed for the dome fly.
Dave G can not make it as he had to go out of town. If required I can pay for his spot.
Sorry.
No problem at all.
Oh, Eds mystery (imaginary??) friend Dave is not around.
I can't wait to meet him.....eventually!
:-)
He exists honest! Simon is convinced that this friend of mine "Dave" is imaginary... I guess its a big pill for him to swallow that I have another friend besides him.
I've known Dave G for a long time, not only through the hobby, but he works in the wood/lumber business with a another friend of mine.
If its not too late to sign up, my Sunday night just came free. I'm in for committing aviation.
Eric
Eric is in!
Thank you all for your support. It was a great evening. Look for some interesting photos in the next Tickler.
Good to see some old friends we have not seen in a while and some new friends we made tonight.
Jack.
Cudos to the organizers.
I had loads of fun. Another fantastic TEMAC event!
Thank you Michael and Jack for organizing another great event!
I really enjoyed the evening.
Graham
Well I certainly had fun!
Lots of fun, relaxed and exciting flying, lots of friends, lots of smiles, and a lot of really neat model airplanes!
Let's wait for the 'Tickler', and then Andy will post a photo gallery, and then I'll post a few images here in this thread.
Thanks to Jack for taking care of business last night and to Andy for taking all those photos that we will soon see.
A very special thanks to Simon H for his idea/suggestion that this event be limited to TEMAC members (and only a very few invited guests) as the quantity of participants was very manageable and we able to fly all evening without interruption; it was a bit busy at times but never too difficult to find airspace.
As always, it was a team event and everyone their contributed to the success.
But a special thanks to Michael and Jack for organizing it.
It was my first indoor event and even though I could only stay a little while it was a fabulous experience.
And thanks to Andy for his patience trying to get the shot of my Pole Cat! It was a tricky little thing and not easy to position.
Great to see everyone too, over the holidays. Thanks for coming everyone...
I'll echo everyone else and say many thanks to the organizers. I fly every other week with Richmond Hill and this is the first indoor fly in a while that I've escaped without being run down - even the Terminator missed me! Bonus!
Eric
