it's most wonderful time of the year...

There are no bad ideas here if there is an event you want to be added add a comment and I'll add it to the poll. To get the ball rolling I've added a few events from the past.

don't forget to vote:

Just explanation on each event:

Landing on a dime - be able to land your plane within a 10-foot circle
Carrier takeoff and landing - channel your inner top gun; take off and land your plane on the "deck" of the HMCS TEMAC
Limbo dancing - fly your plane under the limbo line
Ribbon cutting - this time fly into the ribbon
Once around the block - timed event. take off fly one circuit and land. fastest wins
10-second dash - stay up as long as possible with 10 sec of motor run time
Bomb drop - drop a small bag of flower on the target.
Search & Rescue - timed event. Rescue "Andy" in the shortest amount of time
Musical chairs - last one to cross the finish line is out

Thanks

Can a plane that takes off and lands on its 'belly' or floats, participate in competitions that involve takeoffs and landings?

I would say yes... but like you say it must take off on its own (ie no hand launch)

Is there a size limit or particular planes that are not qualify for the events?  (ie. delta wings, EDF, 3D planes, micro/mini planes under 2S)  And do all challenges events requires take off on its own (i.e. no hand launch) or only to specific events?

sihinch

No size limit.

Some events require take off and landing (like carrier landing) and some don't (like 10 second dash and bomb drop.)

You can compete with 1 plane but ideally you want 2 or 3 of a different type.

Oscar,

Simon needs one plane per event! 8)

Thanks to everyone who contributed to making the day so successful. Today was the single most fun day of the year for me at TEMAC.

The barbecue was terrific; the skills challenge event went on without a hitch and everyone had so much fun, and there was plenty of great flying after.

It was really great!

Although as usual, I am a contender to win the Crash of the year award ... again, I am very hopeful to hand over the award to one of the many other people who worked very hard to dethrone me this weekend!!  ;D

Thank you to all the organizers and Andy for the awesome pictures.

Great pictures Andy!
I'm so glad you missed my funny upset tantrum like looking jump when I crashed (due to my DX8 malfunction)
