Dynam Gloster Meteor twin EDF jet

I bought a Dynam Gloster Meteor twin EDF jet, a model of a vintage (late 1940s - early 1050s) British jet.

It is relatively large (4 ft wingspan; 5 ft long). The quality is not up to the standards of E-Flite/Horizon Hobby, but it is still a good value. The instructions are lousy, and the decals (water slide) are probably not so good either.

It is a 6-channel model, to be flown on a 4S battery.

First challenge:

When I bound the receiver to the transmitter, the motors/fans were beeping and not functioning.

I remembered a fix from such a problem from other models; I lowered the throttle trim all the way, and re-bound the receiver.

Throttle works.

Second and third challenges:

The right elevator was not working (left and right work with one servo, the 2 elevators joined by a wire). This was because the hinge line (foam) was very stiff, and the wire holder (to hold the wire that moves the elevator up and done) had come unglued. I loosened up the hinge line, and epoxied in the wire holder. Although still a bit stiff, it works pretty well.

One flap was not functioning. (Remember to set up (Spektrum transmitter) your model as a 1-aileron - 1-flap Aircraft Type, and make adjustments in Flap-System).
A Y-harness (wiring between the servo and the receiver) was defective. I was replaced, and now the flaps work well.

Wing tips and rear fuselage fit was very tight.

I massaged and squeezed the 'tongue' on the rear fuselage (that fits into the main fuselage) until it was a snug but easy fit.,

The wing tips were installed as per instructions (smaller carbon tubes at rear wing position, longer tubes at forward position ; the instruction don't indicate this), but it took a lot of 'fiddling'.

The top rudder hinge line was also very stiff, and while trying to loosen it, I accidentally ripped it off.

I re-hinged it.

The long round carbon tube connect/fits in the fin, and the square carbon tube connects the bottom and top rudder. I carefully lined these up and very carefully glued it in place with white glue.

I won't be using the water-transfer decals, and ordered custom roundels from Callie Graphics. This will take 4 to 5 weeks.

There is a black decal for the forward top fuselage, but I painted this instead. I also painted the cockpit area. When dried, it looks really good.

Green masking tape was applied and removed very carefully, so as not to remove any noticeable amount of silver paint.

The pilot figure is a bit shiny and plastic-looking, do I will try to fix that up a bit.

Nice build and review. Having owned many Dynam planes, your quality struggles do not surprise me. But I've never had a bad flying Dynam and like you've done, you can fixe the issues.

Strong fiber tape applied (and folded over) on the rear of the battery hatch, to pull off the fuselage. Otherwise, the hatch gets damaged by squeezing and pulling.

The pilot figure that comes with the model has a shiny plastic finish.

I dulled this up by applying a wash (wet) black paint, and rubbing most of it off before drying, and the dry-brushing white on the black areas. It looks dirty, but it's better than shiny new, IMO!

I applied the included dashboard sticker, and dabbed some white glue (dries clear) around that, as some such stickers get loose and unstick under the canopy on sunny days.

The pilot and canopy are glued in.

I found a miniature photo of a plastic scale model of the prototype I want to copy. It has thick black lines that almost line up with seams that need (in my opinion) strengthening, so this worked out very well. I used black electrical tape to seal/decorate those areas. As well, I applied custom decals that I ordered from Callie-Graphics, New Mexico, USA.
