Title: Flying Saturday April 30- a beautiful day at Rogo Field
Post by: Frank v B on April 30, 2022, 08:38:05 PM
Dropped by because Ryerson could not make it yesterday (no ride) but could make it today.  Graham acted as our welcoming committee.  When I arrived everything was ready and I was handed a transmitter and told to "Go Fly.  Go  teach!".  Had 3 flights with William and a flight on my own Nooner Pylon Racer.

The usual suspects were out. Alex with his very visible aerobatic Cadet Senior, Dave and Michael, Mark, Kenny, and the Ryerson contingent Bill, William and Travis, Graham, Adam Maas and Carlos.

The photo report:
174- looks like Travis forgot a few serious parts on his own design 3D printed plane....like a fuse, stab and elevator.  The plane has a reflex section.
175- Graham waving his finger.  I am probably doing something wrong.
176- William and his Apprentice.  Best described as tape with intermittent pieces of foam.
177- Bill and Graham looking at Graham's new invention- A modeller's mouse trap.  Watch your fingers Bill.
179- Dave and his mini leaf blower.... best described as a dust bunny blower.
180- Bill and his Bixler modelling several types of tape.  Taped planes- A Ryerson design element.
181- attempted formation flying by David and Michael.
182- Dave has launched and Michael is next.  Just going over his flight plan.

It was good to see you there, Frank!

After you left, we bumped the CG on my small plane forward from 22% to 20% MAC and that helped to tame the little beast. We ended with 2 relatively uneventful flights :)

Saturday, from 2,000 feet.
If you squint, you can see models flying.

Great photo, Guy.

We saw you wiggling the wings; we were waiving at you.

Guy,

I was there and saw you....but could not hear you swearing at me.   ;D

What is surprising from the photo is how small an area those daunting trees (Lysander Lane*) take up ahead of the pilot stations.  When at the field, they look like they are close to the house to the east of us.  In the photo they appear to be near the middle of the field.

Despite your probable wishes, your prop wash did not affect my flying.   :D   8)

Frank

* a few years ago these trees grabbed, ate and spit out Glenn's Lysander.

Travis,

Thanks for arranging the weather.  It was a great day.
So the 5 minute epoxy held for a few more flights.

Look at the link to Bill Evans Simitar series of the '90's.  Bill designed many tail-less airplanes and flying wings.

His own designed rib cross section has a much more blatant reflex.

@Frank v B  if the prop wash did not affect your flying, then it must have been the wingtip vortices!  ;D
