Question about f5J soaring

Thanks to youtube I was recently watched a lot of F5J flying video and I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge/info about how to getting started such as soaring and also how does catch thermal actually works. Big thanks.

You fly till you see where the model is rising. Start circling there. If you are right, the model will climb.
Pretty simple really :) And very addictive.

There are of course many things to learn.
By observing wind changes, temperature, birds, trees, insects, you try to guess where the thermals are and head there.
You can also "poach" thermals, by paying attention to other models. This is a good way to learn.

There are two main gliding clubs locally, COGG which flies near Beeton, and SOGGI which flies near Hamilton.
At some point this summer we hope to have some F5J and/or ALES contests at COGG, if we do I will post the dates on here.

We also fly winch launch and Discus launch contest in normal years. And of course weekends when the weather is good lots of sport/practice flying.
