Question:  How do I bypass the BEC on a Castle Creations Phoenix 80 amp ESC??

BEC works up to 3S- after that it needs a battery pack for the RX/servos.

Cut the red (middle) wire on the radio lead. I think. Can someone else verify?

This is for the .60 size P-40 on 6S.  I'll bring it to the field tomorrow (2 pm-4:30 pm) and we will tap the TEMAC braintrust...to try to avoid the white smoke of surrender. :)

Of course, you'll need another source of power for the radio.

Or is it the blue wire?!  ;D

Kaboom!

Just kidding! Yes, cut the red wire.

Instead of cutting it I usually slide the red wire out of the servo connector fold it back on itself and put a bit of shrink tubing over it. That way if the plane ever experiences an unexpected gravitational deviation area and is sucked to the earth, the ESC can be restored to original condition for use in something else.
What could possibly go wrong?

Another option is to use a short extension cable that has the red wire pulled from one end.
