You are all invited for one of the few remaining regattas of 2025 (before the water turns solid).
I plan being there by 2:00 pm rain or shine; if it rains the water level will be comfortably higher.
I will bring a sailboat and a power boat for anyone who wants to give this relaxing hobby a try.

A lot of progress in 2 days, now that the French Vacation is over.
Rudder needs to be installed and a bunch of other stuff.
Happy with results so far.

Hello everyone,

My name is Norbert Balint /Crow/, and I'm excited to join the forum as a new member. I'm a beginner RC pilot (and I mean at a kid level), and also a commercial RPAS pilot and flight reviewer. I value safe and professional flying, and I'm eager to connect with fellow pilots, exchange knowledge, and be involved in upcoming club activities.

Next time, we will try to stream the drone gimbal to a screen for the guys to help spot the plane.

General Discussion / SAR flight over Rogo Field to ...
Last post by Frank v B - October 18, 2025, 03:41:25 PM
Paul Gray lost sight of his 2.4 meter power glider a few weeks ago.  Several searches and a mercy drone flight by George proved fruitless.

In a weird but serendipitous way we were contacted by a professional drone flyer who volunteered his services to try to locate the downed airplane.  Paul and I met the team at Rogo Field at 10 this morning.  He had already registered a flight plan with Transport Canada for a 9-12 operation and received confirmation and clearance.

The company name was Squadsight Inc, Premier Drone Services.  Norbert brought his friend/spotter Steve along. https://squadsight.ca

He used a Mavic 4 drone.  He checked all the fields around our area and found nothing.  He then took a flight over the tree line on the south end of the field and saw a plane in a tree.  He and Paul went over for a closer look.  Paul took the close-up picture of the plane.  It appears to be a Kingfisher by HobbyKing.  No sign of Paul's glider...yet.

When Norbert was in the woods looking for the treed plane, he had the drone in a geo-stationary hold above the tree, walked over, found the tree and the plane and sent the drone home.  It landed perfectly on the landing pad without any inputs from anyone.  Amazing.

The resolution on his camera was amazing.  He flew about 3 x the height of the trees and could zoom in at will.  He used a tv screen on the transmitter, not goggles.

Thanks to Norbert for his services.  He is a qualified TRANSPORT CANADA drone tester if anyone needs a test.

photo report:
07- Norbert before his SAR mission.
10- Norbert just before take-off.
11- a screen shot of his first flight.  Interesting prison bar view of the screen.  Has to do with my camera's shutter speed.
13- Paul trying to explain what happened.
14- Paul trying to explain where it happened.
21- Drone coming home by itself.
-- screen shot of the tree where a plane was found.  (yellow circle)
-- close-up of the plane in the tree.

Thank you Norbert and Steve.  You brought a whole new level of professionalism to Drone (quad) flying.  Much appreciated.
Paul settled the bill with a Tim Card each for Norbert and Steve.

Next steps: Norbert and Steve have volunteered to come back when the leaves are gone.
A great team.

I want to confirm our lease for the field has been extended through the 2026 calendar year! As well, our Chief Flight Instructor, Frank, has confirmed that he will again lead our training team!

2025 memberships end on December 31, 2025. If you want to keep flying as of January 1, 2026, or just want to make sure your membership for 2025 is secure, then now is the time to renew.

Our membership fee is now $120. E-transfers should be sent to Mark (our treasurer) at [email protected]

The increased price of membership reflects the ongoing rising costs of our lease, maintenance of the field, insurance, and other expenses. The board is happy to answer any questions about this, but please be aware that the club actually lost money this year, and that the membership fee hasn't increased in more than a decade!

Please include either your MAAC or TEMAC number in the note section of e-transfer.
Application forms are not required when renewing, but if any contact information has changed, please let Mark know. Feel free to contact him should you have any other questions.

Our membership exceeded 100 people this year, as it has for several years. Your membership will be reserved for you up until March 31, 2026. If you don't renew by then, we will open up membership positions to new applicants. We always have people on a waiting-list.

Michael Rogozinsky, President, TEMAC
