Title: Deseronto Float Fly
Post by: fliegerfunker on June 07, 2018, 08:36:05 AM
There is a new club starting up in Deseronto and they are hosting an open house/float fly this Saturday starting at 9 am and going on to 8pm(!)

"Welcome to the Deseronto Royal Flying Club, a waterfront, float based RC site in historic Deseronto, Ontario. We're located at the foot of Mill Street, on lot beside water treatment plant with all flights occurring over the beautiful Bay of Quinte (44.191887, -77.048937,) With two exits off Hwy 401 (exits 566 and 570), Deseronto is located to the south of the 401 and east of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory (cheap gas!).

We're having a fun float fly on June 9th, which also happens to be the day of the annual commemoration for Royal Flying Corp cadets who died while training at Deseronto's two aerodromes during 1917/1918. RFC Wing 43/42 HQ was actually on our site! Flying starts at 9 am and goes until 8 pm that night. We aren't allowed overnight camping at site yet due to municipal bylaw so this is a one day event.

Come out, bring your float/amphibious aircraft and enjoy MAAC newest water based RC site!

Deseronto Royal Flying Club"

Congratulations on having the new float flying site. It sounds great.

Perhaps in the future, a number of our float fliers would likely be more than happy to make the trek out and enjoy the day flying with you.

Have fun!

Thanks for the head up, Martin.  Unfortunately, my life is still turned upside down when it comes to RC flying.  Hopefully next year.

Are you going?

Yep.

Wilf and his wife have sold their place on Varty Lake. (We had our last float fly there last weekend.)  Deseronto may be our club's new float flying contact/site.
