Just put the final touches on it for the maiden flight in the next week.

Photo 95- installed the receiver and connected everything. (servo horns, adjusted the wigglers so they go the right way and programmed the TX)
Photo 96- the battery bay.  Installed a 40 amp ESC.  Will start with a 2200 3 cell pack.

Ready to go!

Building / Construction / Winter Build 2024/5 Canadian 1...
Last post by G-RIDE - April 26, 2025, 09:47:02 PM
After the end of WWI, Parliament created - The Canadian Air Force (CAF) in 1918. Commandant Billy Bishop and other Canadian Aces flew the leftover airplanes provided to them by the British Government. These men loved their Sopwith Triplanes but none where available. Then one day an abandoned Fokker DR-1 was discovered and so CAF-1 Squadron commandeered the aircraft and flew it to the Sopwith factory on the Thames for restoration to a British Airworthy standard.
The CAF was disbanded in 1920.
I always wondered, what happened to that Canadian Sopwith DR-1ca.

Your schedule for this coming Monday, April 28:

1) get up....out of bed!
2) go vote- if you have not already (7.2 million, incl. me, did on the first day of advanced voting)
3) go to Toogood Pond for 2 pm
4) go home to your family, have dinner and watch the election results.

Ok.  Some of you (incl. me) will have to go to work sometime between #1 and #4.

The visit to Toogood Pond may be the highlight of the day. ;)

Frank

To get to Toogood Pond (Unionville)
- Kennedy Road north past Highway 7 to Carlton Road.
- Left on Carlton Road about 1 km west of Kennedy to Main street (this avoids the slow winding road through Marham village).  Turn right (north) on Main street to 280 Main street.  The sign will point west (left) "To Toogood Pond".  This road leads to the parking lot.  We sail at the south side of the Pavillion.

This was a difficult build, so a successful maiden is all the more gratifying.
Congratulations Rob!

Maybe I'm becoming a grumpy old man, but I don't think the "left his parking fee on the runway" photo is necessary, witty, nor funny.

Posting non-model airplane content on our forum can sometimes be interesting and relevant for TEMAC members, but that photo is not.

Transport Canada will be on the lookout for that guy as fines must be paid when documentation is lacking.

I was met by this fellow this morning at Rogo Field. I politely asked to see his TEMAC and MAAC membership cards, but he wasn't having any of it.  He promptly got up in a huff, left his parking fee on the runway and took off before I could get his name and license plate number.
