Ryerson flying Sat March 19
« on: March 14, 2016, 08:50:35 PM »
We are looking to fly again at about noon on Saturday.  We will handle it the same as last week if the weather is nice.  Ryerson just sets up the models they need to fly and a couple of us will slot the flight in as needed.  It worked fine last week.

Bunch of fair weather flyers.  Where were they when the winds were a-blowing and the trees were a-snapping a few weeks ago?  No sane person would have been flying but we were there! ;D

And you'd think at least Frank would have come out to hassle me at the field on Sunday afternoon after the auction, when the winds were definitely a-blowing and the trees were a-snapping.   8)

Hurray!  Winter is still here.  No snow, maybe, but totally fresh and bug free!!!

Snow pants, warm boots, parkas, scarves, layers, gloves, and of course, bathing suits, are REALLY good ideas for tomorrow!  8)

I am going to be at the field tomorrow (Saturday) at about noon no matter what.  I am even bringing a shovel so I can have fun diverting melt water while Andy is flying.

What else is new! ;)

What a beautiful day.  8) Very sunny, a little bit of wind from the north and it warmed up to plus 2 by 2 pm.
Ryerson students flew their two platforms- the pusher plane and the flying whale (flying wing).  Alex flew both of them very convincingly.
Thank you to the usual TEMAC suspects for helping out:  Graham, Greg H, Andy H.
Peter Bradley from Ryerson dropped and so did Drew Martin from the Bramalea RC Flyers (past pres.) who is a drone specialist.
I had a great time playing in the mud- digging diversion channels to drain the major puddles and removed about 6 dams from the stream to speed up drainage.

Simon made a good call to delay the field clean-up.  The ground was still frozen at 11 am and did not start to thaw until about 1:30 pm.  When I left there were still patches of ice in the drainage channels.
