Well everyone, your 2015 Flight Instructors met tonight to get ready for the training season.
Check your aircraft, prepare your lipos, charge your radio batteries and get ready to learn! It all starts again next week.
Thanks again Instructors, for giving up your Wednesdays!
Here we go! :)
... And bring mosquito repellents.
Ok student pilots, it's almost time to fly!!
The forecast for tomorrow's training looks good. So charge your batteries, and transmitters, check your models, and get ready to fly!
Instruction starts at 6:00pm and will continue until it's too dark to fly.
P.S. Don't forget you need a valid MAAC membership and you've paid your annual temac dues.
What a great start to the 2015 Instruction season!!!
Perfect weather, lots of laughs, and some great flying. Thank you to all the instructors that showed up and helped out.
Congrats go out to Gil on buying... ummm... earning his wings tonight! First of many this season I'm sure by what I saw tonight.
See you next week!
Mike
It was certainly a blast!
Congrats Gil.
That was the busiest but most organized and efficient training night I've seen since 2004!
It was a lot of fun!
What a great evening. We counted 26 cars in the parking lot at one point. On top of that, we have already had more nice flying days than last summer. Last weekend was beautiful, Wednesday was great and if this Saturday is good for the Skywriter maiden then I will be a happy man. Keep up the good work on the weather front, Jack.
Frank
another great student night!! Good job to all the students that came out and enjoyed a great night of flying!!
can't wait for next week ;D
Training is scheduled for tomorrow. It's still a go but he wind forecast right now does not look great. Check back tomorrow afternoon before heading to the field.
I can't make it, Claire has her first game of Rep Softball. Must show family support.
Greg can you run off some application forms and throw them in your work box and take any cash if necessary.
Thank you, Jack.
Will do
OK so winds are forecast to come out of the North at 15km/h gusting to 25. It's not great but it is manageable. We will be there tonight, it's entirely up to the student's level of comfort as to whether or not they wish to fly. Just remember:
"It's always better to be on the ground wishing you were flying, than in the air wishing you were on the ground."
Mike
conditions for training tonight (May 20) look good. But it's going to be cold!!!!
Check your models and your equipment and I'll see you at the field. As always, instruction begins at 6:00pm
Mike
Those of us that braved the cold were treated to another fun night of flying. I lost count of the number of Apprentice's that were there, but at one time I counted 4 in the air at one time.
Once again a big thanks to the instructors for volunteering their time.
I hope everyone had as much fun as I did!
A reminder that there is no instruction on days other than Wednesday, so unless you have made a prior arrangement with one of the instructors please don't show up at the field expecting to fly. Although you are always welcome to stop by and watch and hopefully learn from the other members of the club.
Mike
It's Wednesday! That's the good news.
The bad news is that there is a severe thunderstorm warning posting for this evening. The winds are also quite gusty. At this point, I'm not prepared to call off training completely, however there is a chance that the conditions may not be suitable for flying tonight. As always, check the conditions before you leave.
Mike
I will make a call around 3 or 4pm. In addition to the weather situation a number of Instructors have a conflict tonight. There is no point in anyone traveling up if the weather is no good.
Please watch this space......
The forecast remains for high winds, and gusts up to 30 knots. It wont be fun flying tonight, but Frank said he is going to go to the field and see if anyone attends.
Please do not get your hopes up to fly tonight - it will likely be too windy. But we will attempt to provide instruction if possible.
You missed a great evening!!!!!
I got to the field at 3:30 pm and flew my brains out.
At 4:30 set up my new 70" span Champ-like plane from the Cadez collection. Just then Cadez showed up with his 1/5th scale offspring and witnessed the maiden (two circuits) and the 2nd flight (aileron throws adjusted). He took some video.
Then Norm came (3 flights) Ed came (3 flights), a new junior flyer with his tiny Carbon Cub (2 flights), then Sam (Corsair 1 flight), a new potential member (Dave and his father Mike, bought an Apprentice but did not bring it), and helped Mike fly his RedEagle, and BJ showed up with his Mentor (1 flight).
Thanks to Graham for prepping planes (binding them) and keeping the talk going while they were awaiting their turns.
The students had no problem with the winds. It made them better pilots for the challenge.
The winds were shifty, very flyable, we had all of 6 drops of rain after the first student arrived and we ended dry and a rainbow in the south sky when we left.
Frank
Thank you so much Frank!!
After the threatening weather blew threw and reading hour finished, you did your wonderful magic.
Cheers,
Graham
Yes..... it was an awesome night to fly...
I got there at 6:30 there was no wind just clouds
So when I left at 8:45 :(
Some one left LiPo bag and a battery. ;D
So come talk to me....
Yes, thank you so much Frank!
Thanks Frank for being there.
BJ That was my Bag and Battery, Thank you for locating it. Can you bring it next Wedenesday
Ed
Should not be a problem for next Wednesday.
See you then
It's Wednesday !!!!
Conditions look good. Let's go flying. Charge your batteries and I'll see you tonight!
Mike
Another great night at the field. While not every model made it back home looking the same as it did when it left, lots of fun was had by all!
See you next week.
Another "watch the skies" day for training today. The forecast calls for thunder storms on and off throughout the day..
Let's hope this front moves through before 6pm. Stay posted
It looks like it will blow through by 2:00pm.
Jack.
I'm going, Frank's going.
Going, Going, Gone!
That's a pointer at "Fearless Founder"
Jack.
Rain or shine, I might be there. ;D
I'll be there flogging Frank's Fling. If there's nothing posted by 7:00PM I'll head out. What a weird day weather wise!
Eric
Hi
I visited your club at the Door Open Whitchurch Stouville. I was told to check the website to find out if they will be flying on Wednesday night, as I want to watch the flight instruction for one week, and see what it is about. How do I find out if they are flying?
Thanks
Kent
Hi Kent, just watch this post tomorrow and the Chief Flying Instructor will confirm its a go.
Judging by the weather it will be on.
Welcome to TEMAC.
Jack.
Kent,
I will be there no matter what the weather does.
Frank
(sometime instructor ;D )
The weather looks good!
Let's go flying. Training tonight (June 17) starts at 6pm and concludes at dusk.
Mike
I am planning on going to the float fly later Saturday afternoon, however, a couple 'students' asked if I could help out on the weekend a bit.
I may be able to be at the TEMAC field between 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm to help those who want.
I can't make a commitment for any intense instruction, but if you want to do a little buddy-box flying, please respond here.
I will confirm my intentions Saturday morning before 9:30 am.
I may also be available to help Sunday afternoon; we'll see how it goes.
Nobody has responded so far.
If nobody responds, I may not go.
I'll post again at 9:30 am.
Still, nobody has responded.
I'll check again at 12:30 pm, and if no one responds, then my offer is withdrawn.
I'm going flying, but don't need instruction thanks (or do I???)
Instruction? No. A sense of Direction? Yes.
As in the the "trees are that way"
LOL
Jack.
I'll be there about 1:30 pm.
Michael and Frank can't make it tonight so we need all instructors to step up tonight.
How about it?
Can you make it??
Jack.
