Hi David,

Sorry, just saw this. Was looking for a message.

I hope to be at the field on Saturday March 7. I'll bring your Hot Paws.

General Discussion / Raw and Icy - Friday, March 6,...
Last post by Andy Hoffer - Today at 11:21:33 AM
Glare ice on the parking lot and between the parking lot and setup tables.

Field is the texture and hardness of a curling rink.  Powder is done.  Maybe we'll get some soft slush when it warms up.  Today is raw and cold with a wind chill if -6C this morning at 11:00 am.

But I just had to try it before the big rains and warming make soup out of the field.

It's been a great winter!!🙂

That's it... what a beautiful grain.  That veneer has travelled 10,000k to get to your bench.  Triplochiton scleroxylon comes from Central Africa and has a very nice little flower.

That dark staining on the bottom of the elevator/stabilizer has been vetoed by my wife, and by David.

I am now using a clear satin-finish water-based-polyurethane instead. I have to agree with them; it is nicer.

Just a quick reminder to members who have not yet renewed their membership that we hold your spot until the end of March.
After that, we open up to the folks on the waiting list.
As always please remember to renew your MAAC.

Thanks very much, and look forward to seeing everyone at the field.

Building / Construction / A7 Corsair II 50mm EDF by Mich...

3DLabPrint makes excellent filament, in some wonderful colours.  However, I'm not a big fan of their models.  They use a vase mode design, or a non-infill design that I find lacks the strength a printed part needs for an airplane.  3DLabPrint does expand beyond their own models to include members they call the 3DLabGang.  One of these members is Michael Hammer and he does use an infill design for his planes... one of which is the A7 Corsair II, a 50mm EDF hand launch model.  This is going to be printed in white and red.  I'm going against my general exclusion of extras and I'm printing all the tanks, bombs, and missles and I'm going to print the decals as well.  I swapped in red for the nose during the print.  The Fuselage 1 part comes in 2 versions... a printed canopy that is solid and part of the fuselage... and a cockpit with a pilot, ejection seat and a clear canopy.  I'm going for the clear canopy.

This is my first print and build where the Elevons are directly controlled by the servo arms  The fit is very tight and should work very well.
The canopy spring lock system is a very simple printed spring.
