I would like to see a new TEMAC logo. A logo that is more oriented towards the younger generation. A logo that shows what TEMAC all about; fun. A logo, we're so proud of we have them printed on t-shirts. Unfortunately, I don't see any of this in the current logo we have now.

Does anyone feel the same way?
I'm willing to submit a few designs myself, even better how about a logo contest?

I love the current logo!  And I already had it printed on a t-shirt.  :D

But if you want to design something, sure, go ahead.  But no promises that we'd change anything.  :)

I like the idea of a logoed T-shirt with the current logo. I think the current logo is fine. Simon, can I order one from your supplier?
DOWN WITH GRAVITY! UP WITH LEVITY!

I also like the current logo.  ;)

The intent behind the design included the following ideas:

1. To show that electric flight is firmly established, electric-related images (lightning bolts, etc.) were not to be featured.

2. A P51D Mustang is the most popular WW2 airplane modeled in the Western world, and is immediately be recognizable to other modelers.

3. The suggestion that a P51D Mustang was part of an electric club's logo gives the impression that we fly the same types of planes as other clubs, and distances us from the old impression that we fly weakly-powered motor gliders, or toys.

4. Within TEMAC, WW2 Models are the most popular type of plane flown.

5. The primary red, white (or yellow) and blue colours are the simplest to produce on hats, T-shirts, etc.

I would also like to have a t-shirt with the logo.

If anyone wants to suggest a new logo, I'm sure the TEMAC board would take it under consideration and discuss it at the next board meeting.
Obviously, a brilliant new design that is popular with the members could be adopted.

That's great input for a logo designer Michael. I like the current logo too. Also, I'm open to new ideas and I know that in the professional world, often a logo redesign doesn't discard the old design but rather builds on it resulting in a fresh take on the same core ideals an organization was founded on. At TAXI (where I work) logo design and brand identity is one of the things we do. It's often extremely emotional because it's perceived to strike at the core of an organization's culture.

We redesigned the Yellow Pages identity a few years ago. They needed to reboot themselves into the digital age. Here's an article on what we did http://www.designedgecanada.com/news/2010/20100421826.shtml
We also did the same thing with Microsoft Hotmail
http://www.designedgecanada.com/news/2010/20100616918.shtml

When we're having the most fun we're doing stuff like Edward Ponds (scroll down a bit on our website (http://taxi.ca/work/featured/taxi-design/) to see it)

I don't think TEMAC has a brand problem. If anything, we're already too successful! But there's always room for refinement and improvement. But remember, the bar for what the TEMAC leadership would accept is very high.

This was where I ordered my t-shirt from.....

And I have the TEMAC logo (current) if anyone wants it, to order one.  Or, we could see how many people would like a t-shirt and maybe design one as group, and then put a group order in.
