One coat of epoxy on the Rowing Skiff.
Changed from using 3/32 as this was too rigid and could not bend for the sides.
I found some veneer hiding under my workbench for some 12 or so years.
Details to be added as well as painting, should look the part.

Kenny and I were finishing up flying today and the most vivid, largest rainbow I've ever seen appeared.  I've don't think I've ever seen a full, end to end rainbow... and at the south end there were 2 rainbows... something else I've never seen.  Just beautiful.

Thank you for the pictures Frank.
The blue sailboat is actually a Kyosho Fairwinds.
The name came with the boat...  ???

My guess is that the « flag » sailboat, a Starlet, will be ready by next week for its first sail since major repairs, fingers crossed.

Showing a skeleton, a dead Navy pilot, in a crashed Navy plane on your lawn?  With thousands of Navy men and women defending Israel right now, right this minute, you feel this is a good use of your "juicy scavenged bits" and "RC gems"?

General Discussion / Toogood pond- Monday, Oct.7 2...
Last post by Frank v B - October 07, 2024, 08:28:50 PM
We dropped by Toogood Pond this afternoon.  Boats and people who showed up:
- Guy with his North Star (blue) sailboat.
- Paul with his Coast Guard utility boat.
- Andy with his floaty flying thing.
- Jan with two of his high speed but small rescue boats.
- I brought my sailboat and a 32" destroyer.  The destroyer's first float in about 20 years.  I counted the dust rings. ;)

The strong but swirly winds were great for the sailboats.  A gust blew the balsa deck top off my destroyer. 3 boats did their work to push it back into the launch area.

Photo report:
57- Action shot of Guy sailing.
58- Paul with his powered utility boat.
61- Andy's floaty/flying thing in the foreground, Guy's blue hulled sailboat (white sail) and my small sailboat (coloured sail).
62- Guy bailing his sailboat over Andy's head.
66- Paul, Guy and Andy just before we left.

Nice day!

Every Schooner needs a dory/tender.
The parts are cut out from 3/32 balsa.
The plans calls for 1/32 veneer, but I had none, so....
Next will be bending the sides and gluing.

General Discussion / Sunday Oct 6- the weather man ...

Today ended up being a good flying day.  Arrived at Rogo Field just before noon and left at 4 pm.
Only a few drops, a little bit gusty but straight down the runway from the south.
I flew:
- my little E-Flite Cessna Aerobat (300 motor on 3 cells) twice.  No problem.  Lots of power.
- Nooner- no problem.  Still so slippery I could not bring its speed down until the cut edge before the farmer's field.
- V-900 - no problem.  Finally figured out the hand launch- 15 degrees up and 10 degrees right roll (right wingtip down).  Thank you Andy.  This model is always tricky.  There is so much power (700watts) that it wants to roll left immediately before it gets air speed.  It is a handful.  David K. said there have been 13 V-900's and V-1200 at Temac.  This is the only one left.

Youngster Brodie Roberts and his father Jon showed up with their newly acquired Mini-Apprentice.  I flew it twice and trimmed it out. They contacted me via a hobby shop. The photo shows Brodie and his father.  Brodie is not winking.  The sun was very bright.... after reflecting off the bald spot on the back of my head.  :D
Jeff Fisher showed up and went through 4 batteries.
Andy flew his Beech Staggering Staggerwing (without auto-correct).  A really nice take-off in difficult conditions (gusty).

A total of 11 flights and 10 drops of rain.  A winning visit.
