Electronic gyro-stabilizer installation and set-up

I have since used one of these gyros in a plane (without retracts) with additional channel ports in the receiver.

I plugged the 4th wire into the (retract) gear port, and now the retract switch can turn the gyro on and off anytime.

Any unused receiver port will do, as long as you can assign a an on/off switch to it (flaps?).

Caution ...

It seemed that this gyro-stabilizer does not work with mixes (ailerons in different ports, rudder on differential steering, etc.), or maybe I don't know how to use it in those circumstances. Either way, be careful.

The unit continues to function exceptionally well in standard radio wiring situations.

Dave recently commented that my gyro-equipped PT17 was the most stable biplane he'd ever seen fly!

Regarding the Ailerons, Michael's installation depended on a "Y" cable from the Gyro Ail1 Out to the 2 Aileron Servos.

If you're against "Y" cables, then you can use Ail1-OUT to 1 Aileron servo and Ail2-OUT to the 2nd Aileron Servo.  You might think the TL-70 is essentially acting as the "Y" cable in this case, but, you can change the stabilization direction of Aileron Servo 1 and Aileron Servo 2 independently using the Switches on the TL-70.

Out of the very many TL-70s we've set up, we've not used Ail2-Out so far.
