Title: Nice flying today
Post by: rkhoo on July 22, 2007, 01:04:27 AM
I was there from 7:30 am to 10:30am.

Wing was 15 km from the North.

Started the day with about 30 Taboo launching practices.  John and friends arrived moments later.  Collin showed up.  Followed by Nestor and Ben.

A tad windy but it did not slow us down.

It was one of those days that only happens every couple of years. at about 1pm the wind died to nothing, and puffy clouds were everywhere. I had successful flights with all of my planes--especially the Sailaire.

I had it up to over 2,000ft (best guess). It was a tiny spec that I actually lost site of for about 30 seconds until hawkeye Glenn found it again for me. 3 minutes of motor run time turned into a 30 minute flight even after coming down with full spoilers to a more visible altitude. That flight made the whole Sailaire experience worthwhile  (crash/rebuild/storage problems/taking car seats out to transport it etc). I can hardly wait to mount a camera on it.

Long live TEMAC.

Yesterday was a similar day, I had my little DINO Glider up for almost an hour. Screwed up on landing adn ended up with a small crack in the fuse. Repairs are underway already.
