I heard rumours of an event this summer. Just wondering if there is any more information?
Up for consideration:
Warbird day
and a Jet day
Michael
Ohhhh.... I like what I'm seeing here.
Warbirds over TEMAC.... [:)]
Will any of the events also consider a BBQ similar to fix the field day?
I love hotdogs!
Of course there would be a barbeque!
Michael
you had me at BBQ [:)]
I can bring the VW bus with the BBQ attachment... [:p]

Now that it looks like we are planning on having an event this summer as per the flyer. I would like to know who actually owns any of the e-flight wwI type planes? I would like to put together a VERY slow combat event. I am thinking streamers (very long)
This is what I was thinking for the event.
Only slow flyers, GWS Moth, any E-flight or great plane ww1 foamies.
2 meter long streamers. Lightly pinned to the rear of the plane
No intentional crashing!
You are attempting to just cut the streamer and you get a 1/2 kill point. If you pull the streamer out of the plane from the pin, you get a full kill point.
Battle lasts only 10 mins (I think that is about right)
So far I know that John. Greg H and myself have these type of planes. I think other members might have some also. Maybe Robert Pike can glue and tape his back together? [:p]

sounds like fun ... count me in
With the fact that all the planes are considered "Slow Fly" This event will / should be held on the slow fly zone at the south field near the trees. This should give us enough room to goof around.. ;o) We just have to try to get more planes in the air... It might be interesting with Snoopy and the Fokker messing around. [:D]
let's hope my prop doesn't fall off again! hahahaha!

I have an eflite se5. IF it survives the indoor season I will gladly smash it into someone elses eflite slow flyer (accidentally of course) at some sort of event.
Greg, what you're describing sounds awfully like some recent indoor events.
Rather than put models in more jeopardy why not a skills contest such as ribbon cutting or balloon bursting?
Have balloons floating on thread at different heights and time how many balloons you can cut in a minute.
Tie three ribbons between two balloons at different heights along the runway and you have to do a strafing run to cut ribbon.
Jack.
That sounds good too!!!

Although I am also concerned about MID airs on these planes. Greg and I flew rather close a few times last year and they are so slow outside. I think that we would be OK. By the time you actually get close to getting near another plane, I assume he or you would attempt to move out of the way. The indoors are much more pandamonium than a the outside. But none the less I do think that the ballon thing is an excellent suggestion. We could mark them like British ones and the German ones... ?? If this works, I think it would be a good for the next fun fly?
On another note... If anyone needs any Coroplast sheets, I have lots from the office. I am planning on building two hangers for the warbird even ww1 themed. It makes it much more appealing to any bystanders watching the event.

We had balloon pop and limbo competitions at the indoor flying demo at the Hobby Show for a couple of years. It was a lot of fun and great for the spectators.
However, if you're talking outside, I think it would be even more challenging as even the slightest breeze will toss the balloons around like crazy.
I like the train of thought, though. Combat with the slow, WW1 bipes would be fun.
Here's another thought. Some rules would be required to prevent people from over powering their machines to gain a speed and power advantage.
Also, I don't think you could plan to hold an event like this at a normal fun fly as wind would almost certainly be a problem. A calm evening series would be good.

Now who would do such a thing? [:)]

Three things are certain ... Death, Taxes and CRASHIN'! :)
I see the point about the wind. The corner that we have for slow flying is pretty good. Hazelton and myself have flow there a few times and it was OK. But having the ballons bounce all over sounds like fun! I can get some WW1 decals made and maybe we can get some white and green ballons from party packagers. I might make some fake canons for the ground to give it a bit more of a scale feel. Maybe a row of cross hatches along the playing field also. [:D]

I hope this could happen on a Saturday. Any Saturday :)
Saturday is also family and religion for some. We would have to have some compromise. Something like each event alternates days.
Jack.
I got it!
Christians compete on Saturday.
Jews compete on Sunday.
Anyone I missed competes on Monday.
Atheists compete on Tuesday (anyone praying to win on Tuesday will automatically be disqualified).
Championship finals on Wednesday!
[:D]

No Fair!
Everyone knows that Jews make the best pilots (The IAF proves that).
I could compete on Tuesday I guess.
