ANNOUNCEMENT - TEMAC War Birds Day
Weather permitting, on Sunday July 17, from 2pm to 4pm, we will be having our first War Birds event for TEMAC members. Planes must scale or semi-scale models of a military/air-force/navy fighter plane. Pilots must submit a write-up of the plane's history, and details of the model. This will be read during the flight of the model.
This is not a contest and there are no awards (maybe next year), so all TEMAC members are invited to participate. Bring your cameras and have a good time.
Please post your feedback here, and if there is enough interest, we'll start off with a barbecue.
That is great news! I'll have to get off my arse and finally do some painting and just generally spruce them up for the ocassion! ;)
Glenn
sounds like fun ... count me in :)
What about a war bird (P51D) that's covered with bright covering for air shows & racing (i.e. Miss America)?
Is that allowed?
Marc
Military birds converted to civilian aircraft, or vice versa, allowed.
That qualifies my Sandringham them ;D It was a post war conversion from the Short Sunderland... RAF sub hunter / coast line patrol / air sea rescue.
Robert
This is great news.... Do military trainers count? PT-17 / PT-19?
I say the Formosa should qualify. They go into battle every time they're at the field!
And what about the CL215/415 water BOMBERS ;D
Sounds like an awesome day to "launch" my DC3 in RAF trim........
To bad we have some less warbirds after these last few weeks... :(
These things happen; it's part of the hobby. A tough part, but a part nonetheless.
Every model airplane comes with a hidden expiry date.
Hey Robert isn't FORMOSA still technically at war with China? So it's at war with the Chinese ARF's. By my logic it would qualify but you have to paint it in camouflage!
Jack.
Can we also have a swap meet that day too? I have some older airframes that I would like to clear out.
::)
"OLDER AIRFRAMES"
That must mean at least six months old eh?
Jack.
A little preview of what may be coming???? ;D
What a great day! ;D
I have rent a Uhaul to get most of my planes to the field. :P
Had a great time today even thou it was as hot heck. I'm looking forward to the next warbird event!!
Thanks Michael and everyone involved!
Greg
If anyone wants the pics of their plane(s) just let me know and I will send them along.
Not sure if it was the light, the heat or just operator error but there was a higher than usual % of duff photos! Sorry. :(
Couldn't make it out in the afternoon ( the ones that came out are brave! ), made it out to the field around 7pm.
It was still gusty, but at least it was beginning to cool with plenty of shade.
By about 8:15 the wind had really died down, flew straight through until 9:10pm.
How were everyones li-pos holding up in the heat? I noticed reduced flight times.
