Title: Flying Sat Oct 8
Post by: thehaze on October 08, 2011, 10:37:27 PM
Wow, what a nice day!

A number of members took advantage of the awesome fall weather we had today to fly some planes at TEMAC (unofficially I'd say there were at least 15 members there). Lots and lots of planes in the air this afternoon. A number of times we had the maximum number of planes in the air and guys waiting on the ground for their turn to go up.

Highlights included a number of successful maiden flights, and the first known pizza delivery to the field to a member of the club.

A great way to start the Thanksgiving weekend.

Yup fantastic day ... can't see us getting a better weekend going forward tll the end of the year so I finally got my SWIST (yup, no typo :) ) maidened ... toned her down quite a bit (quarter throws and LOTS of expo) cause I was nervous that she might be uncontrollable but in the end I had toned her down too much cause she was TOO controllable! ;)

Now that I've maidened ... I can now prop up and REALLY wring her out! (Thanks for a great launch, Greg!)

I'm pretty sure that motor could make a pop machine fly.

Well it is almost the size of a pop can!   ;D  Since we're talking "pop" here it weighs the equivalent of 5 1/2 cans of pop! 4500watts with a 24x12 prop ... who says electrics aren't powerful?

Hmmmm ... let me see ... should I get a 45lb scale plane (100watts/ pound) or a 22lb 3D aerobat? (200+ watts/lb) Oooh ... this makes planning one of next years potential projects soooo EXCITING!  Maybe this winter I'll learn how to "build".  >:( ;D

Colin

P.S. Man ... I've got this bug bad ...

Gonna pack it along on Wednesday evening for all of us to admire?

Bruce

Unfortunately on Wednesdays my last client finishes at 8.30pm so probably not.

Well I didnt make it on saturday but i did make it out today from 12-2:30  !  Amazing weather.  some good flying and met some new people!  Made it official today and joined TEMAC for next year!   already looking forward to next season AND still enjoying this one!  My only hope is that we can come at least half way to finding a replacement for Michael!

It was a great day!

So many planes and jets ....

I had a great time, especially with an 8+ minute flight on my Twin Otter, and 2 nice flights with my big Mustang.

Considering it is near mid-October, the warm weather and almost zero wind conditions were a gift!

Well, after much searching I found a home for this baby!  A plane notorious for needing a LOT of extra weight in the nose. ;) This is gonna be this winter's project. Now to find a place it hide it ... :)  Here's a pic of the cowl ... first person to guess what it is before I post the pic of the complete plane tonight gets a snickers bar! WOO HOO! :)

Yeah!  Shame I'm on a diet - can I get a carrot, instead?

Awesome looking plane - can't wait to see that!
