Ok I said it but i dont feel any better.
i hear ya brother..
Yup, wanted to go up late this evening and maybe squeeze in an hour, but then got a less than stellar weather report from a Stouffville resident.
Might try again tomorrow, apparently the morning and early afternoon look ok.
I too will be watching for tomorrow.. hopefully there is a break at some point
What??? It's to to build/modify/over-power something, when it's raining!
I've fixed 2 planes this week - PZ Corsair and GWS ME109, both ready to re-maiden! (And contrary to what I said above, I down-rated the power system in the 109!!!!)
S
yeah, i spent this afternoon repairing some minor damage to a couple of my planes.
Building all day.
It's a bit overcast right now... I might head over.. wind is min right no... ::)
Once the fog in my mind clears I will show up too. Hopefully the one in the sky will clear too.
Wow, great turn out!
Some members had some bad luck...
If anyone needs help fixing the foamies.. please ask.
Rain works for me! My supercub has risen from the ashes (literally). Ready to roll with new float mounts.
Conformal coating arrives tomorrow and batteries from HK hopefully later this week.
Good stuff, Ben, we are planning on going for wings tomorrow night... I will bring the floats for the Mini mag if you can make it.
Might be tough to make it up to hwy 7 from downtown during rush hour. I'll see if I can get the car tomorrow. Thanks for the invite though!
Ben,
Glad to hear the cub is repaired!
Where did you get the conformal coating?
Active Electronics. Dave Edwards told me about the place. I finally bought a decent soldering iron too. Shipped quickly.
It's this stuff you want:
http://mgchemicals.com/products/protective-coatings/conformal/silicone-conformal-coating-422b/ (http://mgchemicals.com/products/protective-coatings/conformal/silicone-conformal-coating-422b/)
Sayal is just up the street from Active. It's worth the stop if your in the area.

I see you are referencing the silicone conformal coating. Others recommend the acrylic version.
Which one is best for our use when float flying?
Chris
Hmm, good point. The kind I have is actually the acrylic one. I'm sure they're both good.
New plane all ready. Day off. Honey do list cleared. Anxious to fly and RAIN!!
Arrrrgh!!!!
The good news is that if it keeps raining like this, we'll be able to host a float fly at the field soon.
between the anger management classes and the counseling to not buy more airplanes this hobby is going to kill all my time lol
Well the best I can do at this point is try to get out to TEMAC tomorrow evening. Now I have about four hours worth of discharging to do ... I gotta tell ya ... the anger management classes ain't working too good! >:( ;D
Colin
I have to say, I kinda don't mind the rain today, this showed up for me yesterday afternoon ;D

I could scarcely believe it as I placed the order on Monday! They shipped it out same day and 4 days later voila!
At 46-inches long this is a big plane for a 70mm jet. Quality of the kit and finish look excellent, but it will require a lot of work. Definitely the most involved build I have done to date. The good news is my parts bin should have everything I need except for a thrust tube.
Well dosent that look NICE!! Where did you order it from? I guess it got there so quick because that thing is doing 100mph SITTING STILL!
Meanwhile im sitting here looking at this and out the window alternately.
Thanks Ed, yeah I was looking around for another 70mm edf for awhile and this one fit the bill, although it is ancient. This kit was first released in 2005! I ordered it directly from HET in China.
PS That's a mean looking hotliner! If its anything like the Rifle, it should seriously haul.
nice jet!

That thing looks fast just sitting on your couch.
Its the FLAMES Ben! Everybody knows a flame paint job makes it go faster. Your Green Meanie is still going to be faster though

Than I ordered it directly from HET in China.
Hey Jeff, I often wondered about ordering from them .. did you have to pay duty/customs?

Nope, all was good. I've never had any issues ordering from China. So far really pleased with HET customer service.
I ordered a HET inrunner motor and a couple 10 blade fan units from Xflight RC a few months back, they were great as well.
