Title: HET F20
Post by: flying saucer on August 22, 2012, 12:10:17 AM
Hey guys, as I mentioned to some of you at the field, I'm thinking about grabbing this for my next EDF:

I will be powering it with one of my 70mm 10blade fan units. The wings seem to be too thin to install landing gear, just wondering if hand launches would work. I think my AUW would be around 1.4kg as I plan to use a 5 or 6S battery pack.

As long as there's a good place to grip the underside of the plane I'm sure that with the amount of thrust you are intending for it to have it will hand launch.

A catapult launcher might be a good choice as well.

I hope your F20 has better luck than mine.

After helping with your bungy launch a couple times I'm convinced it's a good method to get up to speed.

Yeah i thought about launching it with a bungee, but Im not sure if my current system from great planes would work. My F16 is about 950grams, would a 50% heavier model be ok to use with it?

Might need a little bigger version.  Test with a weighted stick and see if it zooms still?

Thanks Ed, now I just need to find one, seems they're oos everywhere, and I don't really want to order from the states (duty taxes, dealing with fedex etc)
