Title: Building a better Great Planes DR-1 EP
Post by: Gregor77 on October 09, 2012, 09:51:23 AM
Well, it appears Ken R has grabbed my old DR-1 from PIN that has lived many lives.

I really liked this plane and it reminded me of fall.  This was when I joined TEMAC.  I now would like to experience that again.  So I ordered another kit from PIN.

I am hoping to build a better version of the plane.

I am going to use the following:
RIM fire 400
30 amp ESC
HXT900
1300 Nano

This is some of the stuff that I will change
Reinforce the fire wall.
increase the battery comparment to hold a larger battery
Add 2 oz of lead to the nose
replace the ply wing supports with carbon fiber ones. (they break easy otherwise)
Add 40% expo to the tail or more
light throws on the alerions

I should get the plane on Friday and will start the build.

Ah yes, that guy who kept crashing his DR-1, then went on a plane puchase a day for several months.  Funny thing is... you haven't slowed down  ;D

Is that an ARF or a kit build?

It's the smaller ARF..

After fixing this plane everytime out.. I know it inside and out...

I can't wait...

Just wanted something to leave in the back seat...
