Title: help me....question
Post by: imran1042 on October 19, 2012, 07:05:12 PM
Hi everyone,
I was flying my hobbyzone firebird at the park and once i took off it started to pitch up while i was pushing down(servos are not reversed) and then once it got around 10 to 20 feet in the air the throttle cut and it stalled and it was not responding so i could  not pull up...Any idea on what happened.
Thanks,
                Imran  :'(

Imran, sounds like the model was tail heavy and possible not enough downthrust. After checking this try increasing your elevator throws.

Good luck!

Does it have the virtual instructor system?

It's this plane right? http://www.hobbyzonerc.com/ (http://www.hobbyzonerc.com/)

If so the virtual instructor is a crash avoidance system built into the plane. It looks like this one uses a gyro system to accomplish this. When the pilot loses control or does something too aggressive the virtual pilot takes over and can act as you describe. My guess is that the virtual pilot got confused by something. The manual says you need to keep the plane level for 5 seconds when you plug in the battery. My guess is this centers the gyro(s). Maybe you missed that step. You should be able to turn it off and avoid this in future. Check the manual, If you still have it.

Do you know why the throttle cut?
Did you have control after you picked the plane up ?
Maybe you have a problem in the Rx or Tx

I am going to test it after i eat breakfast, i did not check yesterday as the glue was drying from the repairs, it was not a crazy crash, just had a small crack on the wing and the whole front of the plane ripped of but i fixed it with epoxy  :)

FOR THE RECORD, Temac and MAAC do not approve of flying model airplanes in public parks, without explicit permission of a responsible park authority.

Any person flying their model airplane in a public park without permission, does so at their own risk.
