Title: New Year's resolutions
Post by: Frank v B on December 31, 2012, 02:53:07 PM
How about a few New Year's resolutions that have nothing to do with losing weight or stopping smoking:

Mine would include:
1) Successfully fly my first EDF!!- got the Evader from Greg H. so it should be really great or really short.
2) Successfully complete my first pylon race.  Sports that have nothing to do with model airplanes screwed up all my attempts to participate in a race or practice session this year.
3) finally competing in my first skills challenge.  In the past two years of trying I couldn't even make it to the field. 2012 was my household fire that got in the way.

Happy new Year.

Ok here's mine

1. Actually make it around the pylon course this year with my ef1 racer.

2. Compete in a sanctioned pattern contest in the sportsman class.

3. Go to temac as much as possible.

That's it.

1.  I would like to actualy learn to thermal my glider.

2.  I would like to try to learn to do a rolling harrier.

3.  I will try not to be such an ass all the time.

Oh who am I kidding??  Two out of three aint bad is it?

Does that mean you've given up on the harrier??  LOL.

1. Actually get out to the field and FLY at least once a week during the season.
2. Improve my consistency, particularly in landings.... Eliminate the dreaded off-field touchdown from my repertoire.
3.  Acquire a 3 meter electric glider.

I have a few goals for this year, so I resolve to work towards them  :)

One is to be able to throw to 160' with my DLG.
And if I get that then 180'.

As far as electrics, then it would be to get out to TEMAC more than a few times, and crash some  3D models while I am there.
I could fly them for years and not crash, but then i would not be progressing.  I figure I need to crash a few to know I am pushing myself.

Resolutions for 2013 RC ing;
1. Finish all the models in the build queue (plan sets don't count unless the model's started) before I buy a new one. (This is a repeat from 2010, 2011, 2012 resolutions... ;D)
2. Learn to handlaunch small EDFs without endangering the model, the turf or my own cardiac health.
3. Continue to enjoy the great things this hobby and club have to offer.

Finish building the current projects.  I still have three 1/4 scales on the bench.

Not buy anymore planes till after my birthday.

Participate in the teaching of students and make sure we all fly safe and have fun.

Finish the Temac hauler.

Isn't it a big milestone birthday for you this year Greg????

My RC resolutions include....

1. Learn how to fly an aerobatics routine
2. Learn how to program mixes etc in a radio
3. Build and maiden the FlyFly 90mm EDF Hunter (in honour of my Grandad) before the TEMAC Jets day
4. Ensure TEMAC is successful for 2013 (field improvements, qualify student pilots, issues with Transport Canada resolved etc) and well set-up for 2014 (good balance, safe & established field etc.)

Happy and healthy New Year everyone.

Wishing you and your families all the best for 2013.

Simon

My RC resolutions include....

1. Try to not to "progress" (crash) at all this year.
2. Be more consistant with getting to the field. (not looking good since we're "expecting" again in June)
3. Finish ALL my "builds" in time for the season's start. (at least by May 1st)

Happy New Year everyone.

Okay, #1 is now on the 2014 list (lasted eight days...about average). I bought a short kit! ;D

That's how long most New Years resolutions last  :D

It was such a short kit that the nose moment and the tail moment were both zero!

Fancy a Sailaire kit? I have one here burning a hole in my storage space. 150" is 3.8 meters. You could build it to come apart nicely (unlike my built one)
