Speedfest is approaching and Simon has bought a Hobbyking Reverb along with a list of high performance equipment to make it a speed machine.
This a photo thread of the assembly of the pieces in preparation to go fast!
Photos show the repair to a wingtip damaged in shipping and then a quick paint job for colour and visibility.
Part2
7:Photos show prospected layout of equipment in the fuse.
8:The stock aileron clevises one broke with just s few installations on the servo and they were scraped in exchange with genuine sulivan links.
9:Showing the built in aileron differential to give large spoiler movement and proper aileron travel.
10:Reinforcing 30minute epoxy on the inside of the aileron horn
11:Stock supplied elevator horn with larger custom one for proper travel and maximum servo power.
12:Using a cut off piece of the pushrod to drill the hole in the new horn.
Part3
13:weighted and gluing servos into wing with 30minute epoxy.
14:Elevator pushrod linkage. Short and stiff!
15:Elevator horn installed.
16:Power system soldered and prepped.
17:Elevator rod installed and solder as keeper. Strong and secure!
18:Servo glued into fuse
Faaaasssssst !
Ed - you're a master! Thank you.
But now the secret is out!
Ahhh Simon the secret is safe. You don't think anyone reads these posts do you?
Whoops! I'll stop reading...
...but it sure looks cool!
Simon just use your Jedi powers.... These are not the posts you are looking for
After a couple little jobs Simons Reverb was completed earlier tonight! It was such a nice night and the plane was looking so good I just couldn't resist taking it out for a quick flight... My daughter did the maiden and said it makes great turns around the tree on our lawn!
Now that's confidence and skill - giving the camera a massive grin whilst flying a 140+mph plane round a tree at 2 ft! :D
I think she should keep the plane, Ed - she's a better pilot than me. :'(
And was that a 3 channel radio? Wow! ;)

She takes after the old man in flying skill as well as stunning good looks! Thank goodness she doesn't have a Nooner racer I would have some competition. Oh and she is modest just like me!
Well, we spent the evening settin up the balance, throws and radio program. And I'm delighted to report it meets the "450 watts per lb" Ed set-up requirements!
On a fully charged 4S battery, with a 4.75x4.75 prop doing a quick static thrust test, we got around 65 amps and 900 watts. And it weighs just under 1.5lb without the lipo!
Should be fun!
Im very excited to see this new plane in action! If I don't say so myself it turned out quite well and programming the new Turnigy 9XR was a snap! Very impressed with where this radio is taking things. First time on a new style software and in no time we had spoilers and everything programmed! FrSky module and receiver with dual antennas showed quick rebind after powering down and fit perfectly.
I don't read I just look at the pictures.
Jack.
Maiden Wednesday, folks!
nice try.... Ed's daughter flew it while ago ;)

And she would have flown it more if Simon hadn't rushed over and taken his toy home.
I hope that Simon knows that the pressure is on him. Now that we know that a 12 year old can easily handle this model....
Btw.... She's 11, flew it without looking and sent a couple text messages during the flight.
There's no way Simon can match that level of skill.
I just want to fly it in circles. It's a glider, right!
As expected the reverb flew terrific! VERY smooth and stable. In no time at all captain Simon was doing some respectable passes and thrilling turns. The spoilers made landing a breeze. I'm feeling a little jealous its that nice!
I did take a few pictures of where the plane "had" been but the elusive Reverb could not be captured on my phone camera.
It was awesome. Very, very quick. You couldn't take your eyes if it for a nano-second.
As Ed said, landing was very, very easy. Easier than a Nooner. And did I say it was quick?
Thanks so much to Ed for such an awesome job of the repair, the build and the paintwork!
Wow!

Not a very good video but the sound helps make up for it!
Congrats Simon! It's a great little plane ... mine is being "retrofitted". ;)

This whipper snapper caught my eye this past Saturday. I may have to take the plunge. Which servos are you using and what did you use Ed to repair the wing tips?
I had a bad day with the Reverb yesterday. I had a low Tx battery (and didn't notice because I'd forgotten the Tx I was using ran at 12v, rather than 8v of my DX7s) and lost control of the model. Fortunately it was high, and I had a failsafe set. It gently went in to a Downward Spiral, and crashed behind the trees to the South East of the field.
I must thank Glenn, Jay, Bob and Graham for going to look for it on foot (whist I went in the car.) They found it, but it is quite badly damaged. But repairable I hope.
I was using Hyperion DS09AMD servos, but apparently I didn't need to use the metal ones.
Lesson for everyone - don't assume, check! And remember the Tx voltage (and if possible set a warning.)
Sorry to hear about that Simon. Are those the pics of the damage? If so that should be no problem to repair. All of us who have been flying these types of planes for awhile have had worse ones that we've repaired so don't despair!
Colin
Considering what happened it does not look too bad. What would be used to repair the damage?
Slightly off-topic, but sort of related ....
It was Jay who found the plane far behind the trees south-east of the field.
During a flight with one of my jets, I lost an elevator and a wheel (both in the same flight !!!) at different times, into the beans.
Jay found both.
3 for 3; Way-to-go, Jay!
We will have to call him St. Anthony.
He's the Patron Saint of Lost Stuff.
Jack.
These are a great starting point of the travels I installed the servos to achieve.

These are the throws in using at the moment, with a solid amount of expo as it very maneuverable, particularly at speed!
Spoilers 24mm up @IB edge
Aileron 22mm up, 9mm down @IB edge
Elevator 5mm up/down @centre
Throttle-Elevator .5mm up at full throttle @centre.
