Title: 1/4 scale PBY Catalina
Post by: Ex14th on March 01, 2014, 05:32:02 PM
Selling a Plan/Pac PBY Catalina designed by Robert Switzer.

It is of 108 inches wingspan. Comes with a full set of (4 large) folded plans with full list of building materials, ribs/formers templates to cut your own kit, you have to provide woods of your own selection, and build it - with the abundance of arf's and foamies on the market, building from kit unfortunately, is almost a lost art these days if I may say so.

Molded plastic engine nacelles, clear windshield, and the clear side window blisters.

I bought this at the last London Swap Meet having inspired by last Summer's Frenchmen Bay Float Fly. This will be good for two 3x out-runners on 3 cells each.

With all the projects that I have on the plate, I probably will not be building this anytime soon, might as well sell it to someone who could make a good winter project out of this. A very rare find. Picture shows finished product flying.

Selling it for $100 - what I paid for it at the Swap Meet.

Shipped by Canada Post Regular Parcel Services.

The package is very light, so the postage won't be that much.

Hey Alex, Scratch building is alive and well in TEMAC!
Last night we had eight students at a class learning to scratch bild.

Excellent, and good to know.

They are lucky to have you as their mentor, giving them a good basic knowledge of building and finishing, keep up the good work.

My list of flying boats to build is getting longer!

This one will have scale retracts.

"My list of flying boats to build is getting longer!"

But you will have the biggest Catalina at the coming float fly, for now.

Until Simon comes up with a bigger one, and in Royal Navy colour. 8)

You can always ask Rob very nicely to cut a spare set of woods for you, make your own vacuum formed parts, and start building like crazy  :-\

Piece O cake, and don't forget your pair of wellingtons.

It would be fantastic if Simon was to build a big flying boat, but I don't think he's that cool  :)

A big PBY has always been on my list. I just don't have to room to build or store.
