Welcome, Simon H, to the TEMAC 1/4 scale club.
(Simon bought the Dave Patrick Super Cub.)
TEMAC 1/4-scale flyers for 2014 so far include Robert, Glenn, Greg C, Simon and myself.
Have I missed anyone?
Will we be having a casual 1/4-scale flying-day? ;D
For sure! Once I get this radio set-up!!!
Thanks Michael. The Cub looks amazing. I'm so excited.
That is great news! Congratulations Simon.
Glenn
I've changed the name of this thread from "1/4 scale" to "Giant scale", in order to reflect how other groups and clubs work.
Giant scale refers to model aircraft with wingspans of 80" or more, and biplanes with wingspans of 60" or more, and any true 1/4 scale model that may have a wingspan less than above.
This brings in more modellers into this 'group', which is more in line with the character of TEMAC.
I'm working on my own club... The Giant Scale Flying Boat Club. Colin will be the first official member... after he finished the Albatross.
But for now I'm glad to be a part of this club ;D
My 1/5 scale Cub (84.5" wingspan) on floats qualifies! ;D
i need a bigger car before i can join the giant scale club ;)
Sounds like my 85" Norseman on floats would qualify?....(if I ever get it finished!) There has to be Canadian content...even in Giant Scale!
Dad and I have stated our next joint build, an Avro Anson which is also Giant Scale but no way it'll be in the air in 2014.
Yup, an 85" Norseman qualifies, but only if it's finished. ;D
I have my Sig 1/5 scale Cub at 84.5"... Can I be in the club? :D
Steve
OK, it's not really a real club; it's just a fun way of saying we're part of a group of people who have bigger model airplanes, as long as your model fits in the following parameters:
Model aircraft with wingspans of 80" or more; biplanes with wingspans of 60" or more, or any true 1/4 scale model, even with a shorter wingspan.
I don't want to be a part of any club that would have someone like ME as a member.
Niche Modellers, the bane of the hobby.
Next you'll be wanting special times set aside so you can have the sky to yourselves.
Then you'll want your own fun fly with special high class food and catering.
After that it will be poker runs and I don't know what all foolishness.
And there goes the TEMAC, ruined!
Now see what you've started.
LOL
Jack.
Can I just fly aeroplanes with friends and have a laugh, please?
First you need to find some friends.
That was mean Piker. Mean and low!
;D
Simon I will be your friend provided you let me fly the plane that got you invited into this "club" lol
We are having a laugh!!!!
Jack.

Wow! This is fantastic! My 21.5" 1/4-scale Stits Sky Baby will make me a member of the Giant Scale Club, and it will only need a 3S 2200 and an E-flite Park 480. And I won't need to buy a truck, B.A. SUV., or a new electrical panel for charging my batteries. (Now if we could only get some of these Giants to show up on skis! ;D )
There will be some great planes out there this season!
1/4 DR-1, 1/4 Pup, 1/4 N28, 1/4 N17, 1/3 Taylor Craft BN12C, 1/4 D7 and more... Now just need a 1-1 Transport Truck.. lol!
They are sure getting big! ???
Holy Makerel, Greg, you're a Giant-Scale-Club all by yourself! :o
Love the fact that Greg turned all the beers that he's drunk in to a trailer for RC cars!
it looks like the planes are multiplying and will soon take over the house ;)
So tell us Greg, where exactly do you sleep???

I suspect it looks something like this!
Ha Ha.. funny.....
Just grabbed this 1/4 cub. Thanks Bill A.
Here is my biggest plane!
Is that Carmen in the shadows behind the lamp with a 12-gauge? ;D
Does this count for large scale? I think it is 1/13 scale. From what I have found out, it is a Chris Golds plan (balsa, ply and blue foam) model. Running 4 Axi motors and one 3S, per motor. There is a person on RC groups that is running it with 4S and stated it is WAY over powered, you can find a video on you tube "Chris Golds Lancaster"
It should be ready for war bird day, but I will need to get my fingers and nerves ready before hand.. maybe a support team to move it also.
Another shot... ;D
Nice looking plane!
Here's the video that Greg didn't post for us :)
I like the scale take-off roll... ugh!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAzqpGVzC-U (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAzqpGVzC-U)
Yes, less than stellar take off... So much for some right ridder.. lol, the sink rate looks to be very aggressive, it also appears that the elevator throw was aggressive and it might be a tad tail heavy. Mine requires 5.5 lbs in batteries balance.. crazy.. 14.5 lbs unloaded.
My 1/4 scale camo cub qualifies me for the giant scale club as well....
Yes, the Camo Cub does qualify! ::)
I am in the process of putting one together right now.
At lest the weather is getting better.. I wonder how Glenn is doing?
Greg,
If you need help with the Lanc let me know....
I officially joined the giant scale club today, flying my clipped wing cub. What a rush! It flew so nice, absolutely rock-solid.
Thanks Michael for all the help.
Rob Dickinson took some video that I'll try to upload.
Here you go.....

I guess my Big Carbon cub puts me in the "big birds" category.
Great flight guys!
The big carbon club is pretty close.. looks great too!
