This is great news but is my mind playing tricks on me or was there a change of plan? I could have sworn that I read in a recent Tickler that it was decided NOT to install the Geotex runway this season?
Colin
You are correct Colin, we did say we weren't going to install this year.
What changed?
Seems like we had some wrong understanding or inaccurate info relating to the runway maintenance. It turns out that, after another visit to Keswick to inspect and talk about their runway, we do not need to do as much maintenance and care as we first thought. The rolling and mowing needs are significantly less than we first understood.
So given that, we have decided to go ahead.
Hope this makes sense...
Awesome! Thanks Simon. Unfortunately I can't make it out for yet another cleanup/maintenance outing since I work on Saturdays. :(

Why would we need to mow a geotex runway?
A geotex runway needs to have the grass mown all around it, to make sure there is no ridge around the boundary of the runway. Also, you need to make sure that the mower does not damage the geotex or "suck" the fabric in to the blades.
So we do need a mower and one in good condition with appropriate adjustments/set-up.
Good?
re: the quote from the Tickler: "Let's plan on spades in the ground at 10:00 am."
Best news yet. Team Spades in the ground Saturday at 10:00 am so we won't have to race them in the first Nooner race on Sunday!! ;D ;D
