Had a great time at the fun fly yesterday. A number of firsts for me. First time judging the skills competition. First flight with my Durafly Corsair, First landing on my Tiger Moth, but perhaps the most memorable, my first mid air collision. Just took off and was down wind when Vic and I had a coming together. Both planes crashed. Vic broke a prop, and I was glad his plane was not more damaged. The poor little Pitts was not so lucky. There was sort of a trail of destruction through the beans with little bits of red and white foam spread along a 30 foot path. Found most of it but the little outrunner motor and a slick little 2s 600 ma Lipo where nowhere to be found. I was close as I found the spinner. I think the cowling is still around the motor, as it was not recovered. If anyone is out there and finds it (it was pretty much abeam the middle flying stand, about 30 or so feet into the beans) I would be happy to have it back as I want to build something to fly indoors this year.

I did not see the collision, but I heard it.
I was impressed when I looked out and saw Rob and Vic shaking hands between the pilot stations then calling "on the field"!
I cannot believe this, but I was at pinnacle today, so seeing I was in the area, I dropped by Rogo field to see if I might be able to spot my motor. Can you believe, I walked into the beans about5 rows, and there was my motor. about 45 seconds later I spotted the battery. Motor's plastic prop adapter is broken off, so I don't know if that can be replaced, but it proves it is possible to beat the beans!
The little prop adapter for the generic 180 E-Flite out runner is available. I have one but I think I also saw it at Pinnacle last week.

Thanks Frank, good news. I saw you flying a couple of little tiny biplanes earlier this year. Do you have plans for those, or just make them up?
Shouldn't have to worry about them beans for the rest of this year... ;D
Photos taken yesterday.
Rob,
Sorry I missed your post "I saw you flying a couple of little tiny biplanes earlier this year."
Google Chris O'Reilly Micro Pitts and the full size plans will come up. The ones I flew this summer were a 115% version (14" span, 1/32" balsa) with an E-Flite 180 on 3 cells (100 mah). It is ballistic. The larger one is 150% (18" span, 1/16" balsa wings, 1/32" fuselage) with an E-Flite 250 on two cells (280 mah). I also built a 12" version for the Dome with the single cell electronics of an indoor foamy.
The paint is one quick coat of Canadian Tire water-based spray paint. Make sure you paint both sides of the wings at the same time to avoid warping.
The 14" one flies well providing it is going at full speed, much like an arrow. The minute the speed gets below half throttle it falls out of the sky but well worth the trouble. That's why I land it in the beans at the edge of the runway. Much safer.
It only takes about 10 hours to build one of them. Well worth the trouble.
Chris O'Reilly also has a Tiger Moth.
