Jack,
re "Only 60 days of Sno'Ball's harping about the beautiful cold".
Arghhhh! It makes it seem like 90 days of punishment :(
re: "I'm looking out at a lovely flying day, if only the temperature was much higher and the winds much lower."
I flew this morning at Bramalea for my 27th New Year's flight. It was cold. I parked the car, pulled out the Taylor Cub 450, connected the battery and flew 2 circuits and put it back in the car. First flight of the year. About 15 people showed up.
Obviously you were smart enough to stay home.

Bad news: Here we go. Good news: Only 59 1/2 days left!! :(

And you thought I had a lock hold on TEMAC winter insanity.

There is no comparison with my one-time (mis)adventure in cold winter flying. You live out there... and the title of "Insanity" belongs to you. I am a mere interloper into your frozen world.
Spring is another day closer. :D

Andy ('S)No Balls,
Those numbers in the forecast (-8,-8,-12,-10,-8,-7,-4) indicate the number of layers of clothing you need under your jacket in order to go flying. Tomorrow is supposed to be -14. Good luck getting 14 layers of clothing on before you head (roll) out. :D

Hey!
If the Michelin Tire Man and the Pillsbury Dough Boy can do it, so can we!! 8)
Cheers!
His name is Bib!
