Title: Quad Crashes into US Open Venue
Post by: thehaze on September 04, 2015, 04:41:38 PM
You wouldn't believe how much time was spent on this topic when I was at the games. Guys like these are going to get us banned from flying anything soon enough. What a moron...

This one might have been a bird strike.

This is exactly what happened with ultra light aircraft.
there was this really smart guy decided to fly a ultra light aircraft into LA airport
because not radio... so no contact... therefore all traffic was diverted... signaling emergency
This caused the FAA to change all the rules...
Yes folks we have a winner.....

When the vendor tries to sell the product, why can't they include the warning message so first time buyers are aware.  Instead, they just want to sell their product.

For example -

http://www.ehangdrone.com/
"A drone anyone can fly"

http://www.horizonhobby.com/chroma-with-st-10-p-blh8665
"It can make you look like a pro even if you've never flown a camera drone before!"

http://www.dji.com/products/phantom-3-series
"Safe, easy, and fun to fly, the Phantom 3 Standard makes it possible for everyone to reach for the sky."

Thanks Pat.  Good to know.  Interesting that the de-ice boot damage was consistent with prop slices.  (Maybe the bird had auxiliary power.)

Good point Oscar.  At last ehangdrone (Hobbico) offers a link in the fine print at the very bottom of their web page.
(http://knowbeforeyoufly.org/ (http://knowbeforeyoufly.org/)).

Transport Canada has some good, simple UAV safety videos which I found at flyingcameras.com.(http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/standards/general-recavi-uav-2265.htm?WT.mc_id=1zfhj#safety (http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/standards/general-recavi-uav-2265.htm?WT.mc_id=1zfhj#safety)).

A "good news" story about drones, and an amazing video showing the power of mother nature.

If you read to the end of the description they actually used the drone to guide the rescue chopper.

I hate to break it to you Oscar but the people who crash drones don't read or heed written warnings.
